Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-16
This policy describes what SteamCozy (https://steamcozy.com) collects when you use the website or the SteamCozy connector for AI assistants, and what happens to it. The short version: there are no accounts, we set no cookies, we run no third-party trackers or advertising networks, and we do not sell or share data about you. The site is operated from Australia by wuko.
1. What we do not do
- No user accounts, sign-ins or profiles.
- No cookies set by this site, and no third-party scripts, pixels, advertising networks or social-media widgets.
- No cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, no selling or renting of data.
2. What stays in your browser
Two preferences are kept in your browser's local storage and never sent to us: your light/dark theme choice, and — on pages for adult-rated games — your confirmation that you are old enough to view them. Clearing your browser's site data removes both.
3. Self-hosted page statistics
To see which pages are read, each page view sends a small request to our own server with the page's path; if you arrived
from another website, that website's address (the referrer); and, if the link you followed carried a short ?ref= tag
that we add to links we post elsewhere (for example ?ref=r-cozygamers), that tag. We do not use any third-party
analytics service.
- Our web server writes the usual request log, which includes your IP address and browser identification string. These logs rotate and are deleted within 14 days.
- Once a day the logs are aggregated into counts per page, per country, per referring site and per link tag. Before aggregation, IP addresses are replaced by a one-way hash with a key that changes daily, so the aggregated statistics cannot identify a person or link one day's visits to another's.
- Searches typed into the site's search box are stored only as counts per lowercased term (at most 80 characters), never with any visitor identifier.
4. Services that sit between you and this site
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from abuse. Cloudflare's servers see your requests (including your IP address) and handle them under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Steam's image servers. Game artwork and screenshots are not hosted by us; your browser loads them directly from Valve's content network, which therefore sees that request.
- "Read more reviews". When you open more reviews on a game page, your browser asks our relay, which fetches them from Steam and passes them back. The relay keeps no log of these requests and drops any cookies Steam tries to set.
5. The SteamCozy connector for AI assistants
AI assistants and agents (ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and others) can look up games on this site through a connection at
steamcozy.com/api/mcp (described on the For AI assistants page). What they get back is what
anyone can already see on the site: scores, counts, tags, prices, reviewer-agreement labels and links. Adult-rated titles are not
available through the connector.
- To answer a request we receive the search words or the game asked for, the network address the request comes from (for a hosted assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude, that is the provider's servers, not yours) and, from ChatGPT, an anonymous user code that ChatGPT adds so that usage limits apply per person rather than to everyone at once.
- We do not log these requests. The address and code are used only for rate-limit counters that live in memory for a minute at a time.
- What the AI service does with what it reads, and what it knows about you, is covered by that service's own terms and privacy policy.
6. Email
Mail to [email protected] is forwarded to our mailbox by Cloudflare Email Routing. We keep correspondence as long as needed to deal with it, then delete it. We do not add addresses to any list.
7. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. Pages for games that Steam marks as adult-only or as containing frequent nudity or sexual content are shown only after an age confirmation and carry no sponsored cards.
8. Your choices and rights
Because we hold almost nothing about you, there is little to access or delete — but if you have written to us, you can ask what
we hold and have it deleted. Write to [email protected]. If you prefer that even our own page statistics not
record your visit, a content blocker that blocks requests to /c on this domain does exactly that and breaks nothing.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date at the top. Changes that matter to you — for example a new service that would see your data — will be stated plainly, not buried.
