Patch 1.0.7 is releasing for Taskmaster VR! This patch primarily releases a spooky, seasonal skin for the game, filled with lots of little tricks and treats! Some of the highlights include -
- The Spooky Update! OOoooOOOh!
- Contextual Scoreboard visuals!
- “Ghost Hands” are now optional!
- Bug fixes and minor task balance changes!

Game-wide Updates
Spooky Season Event - It’s Halloween!
- Summer is officially over, and the house theme has been overhauled for spooky season!
- The whole game is playable in Spooky Mode - with tons of new tools and objects to play with, some of which have some….unnatural…properties!
- Lots of new easter eggs (halloween eggs?) and secrets to discover - can you find all the ducks that Alex and his coven have hidden around the house?
- Seasonally appropriate outfits for the Taskmaster and his Assistant - Trick or Treat!
- Spooky new music!
- Spooky Season is a limited time event, so don’t miss out!
General Gameplay
- “Ghost Hands” are now an optional feature that can be turned off in the Journal - Player hands in Taskmaster are physics objects in the world, and for many players, having a separate indicator of your controller location is a necessary accessibility consideration. However, we realise that many of our players, including streamers, want a more visually immersive experience, so we have updated this feature to be optional.
- Ghost Hands will remain on by default, because it is halloween.
- Stickers in the Journal that were missing animations will now animate correctly.
- An issue where player hands could sometimes duplicate themselves has been solved.
- Additional code cleanup and optimisation has been performed across the game, which should result in even fewer framerate spikes or slowdown periods.
Task-Specific Updates
Chimp’s First Day at the Deli Shop
- An image of your delicious sandwich will now be displayed on the scoreboard during the scoring sequence, providing context to Greg’s comments. Mmm, delicious!
Artistic Flatmate
- An image of your sticky note artwork will now be displayed next to the original painting during scoreboard, providing better context to Greg’s comments and showing players just how rubbish they are at modern art.
Who Needs Smartphones?
- Fixed an issue that could cause dialogue to play extremely slowly during this task, as well as lowering framerate.
Just Feed The Dog Some Watermelon
- The dog food should no longer defy gravity if you are holding the dog bowl. Can you believe how wild some of these patch notes are? Imagine having to write that sentence with a straight face.
OTHER STUFF!
Known Issues
As with any major update, we are aware of some lingering issues as a result of our changes that are being worked on for an upcoming patch/hotfix. In the interests of transparency, we have documented these below.
- Very rarely, the player's hands can desync from the controllers during scoring. We are investigating the cause, but this should not block gameplay progression.
- Alex’s facial animation will sometimes not play as he is talking. This does not affect progression and is under investigation.
- Certain plate colliders can occasionally have physics issues. We are investigating the cause.
- Moving through doors when using teleport movement mechanics is slightly more labour intensive than intended - we are working on an update to the teleport mechanic to address this.
- ‘Strike!’ achievement has been temporarily disabled, while we investigate a possible issue that can occur when unlocking this achievement.
