Hi everyone! It’s the moment you’ve all been secretly waiting for… the new Wanted System update is live now! Prepare to have a new life breathed into the city of Superfly. With more difficulty progression than ever before, a brand-new health system, 11 (yes, ELEVEN!) new and unique enemies, and updated building graphics, there’s something for all of you! Don’t worry, some of your familiar favorite enemies are still there too… but a couple of them might look a little different. (don’t tell them that, they get a little self-conscious.)

Now on to the fun stuff! The major change in this update is the brand new Wanted System, which also allowed us to introduce 11 new enemies to our roster, each with unique different abilities. You might remember Dr. Suffer is looking to find you after you escaped from his lab. Well, now your destruction comes with consequences! As you fly around the city “saving” those police cars by yeeting them off into the ocean, Dr. Suffer will notice you’re causing mayhem and send his goons after you!

Similar to GTAV, you will now gain a Wanted Level the more you destroy property and robots. You can see this with our handy (ha) new Robot Head indicator located just under your left hand. Each Robot Head represents a further increase in difficulty, with the most difficult being 5 Robot Heads. Trust me, it’s a doozy to survive! You might even notice some interesting new effects if you make it to Wanted Level 5… (but you didn’t hear that from me)

Since this update majorly increases the difficulty of Superfly, we also want to take a brief moment to remind you of some existing difficulty settings located in Settings > Gameplay. You can lower your difficulty at any time (even make yourself invincible!), as well as lower the spawn rate of enemies, all without respawning. Or raise it! We encourage you to use these settings to tailor Superfly to your personal level of difficulty, as we know all players have a different idea of what is easy or hard to them.

Next, we added a completely new health system. We’ve tried a few different versions of this in the past, from a red encroaching circle that made players nauseous, to our most recent system where you just sort of.. die, without warning. Unfortunately, the feedback we’ve gotten has been that those iterations haven’t quite hit the mark yet.

For our new updated health system, we’ve finally added a health bar. It’ll appear on the back of your left wrist in game. As you take damage and lose health, it’ll go from green, to yellow, and eventually red before you die. You’ll also see some flashing red around your screen indicate that you’re taking damage, as well as a warning sound when you’re low on health, in case you don’t have a chance to look down. And don’t worry, if you die, you’ll just respawn back in the city center.

As part of this health system update, we’ve also adjusted how you take damage. Not only do enemy attacks hurt you, but you can also enable the ability take fall damage now! You can find this setting under Settings > Gameplay, turn it on if you want even more of a challenge! We also adjusted how EMPs affect you, now each EMP will only disable one of your hands instead of both.

Now, on to the enemies. We added 11 new enemies to this update, to make for a total of 13 in our roster! I wanted to take a second to mention that our old Spider Bots and the Red Mech are gone…(RIP) While Dr. Suffer felt they performed valiantly, they both need some massive upgrades to be on par with all our new enemies. If you’ve seen our Enemy Naming Competition on Discord, you’ve already seen their 2.0 replacements! Please give a big warm welcome to the crawler 2.0* (not official name) and one-eyed mech 2.0* (not official name)! I know they just can’t wait to beat you! Er. I mean, meet you. Yeah, that’s what I meant.

There are also 9 other new enemies that you’ve never seen before, completely new to this update! Everything from a slimy tentacle bot all the way to a giant mechanical dragon, we have it all! While I’m tempted to tell you everything about all 9 new enemies, this announcement would be far too long if I did. You’ll just have to play the new update to find out, or head over to our Enemy Naming Competition on Discord if you want to learn more about them before they obliterate you into pieces.

And lastly, we added new rainbow building colors to the entire city! We also updated the textures for the bottom section of all the buildings in the city to add brand new storefronts. Along with that, we adjusted the interior textures too. We hope you enjoy this added variety in your high rise fly by!

With all of that, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention our future plans… Unfortunately, this is likely to be our last major content release. I know, I know, we’ve said that a dozen times before. But.. I think it’s for real this time. Our next goal is to get out of App Lab and onto the full Quest Store. This means we have to work on making sure Superfly meets the performance requirements necessary to do so, which is a lot of bug fixing and performance optimization we’ll be continuing to work on. This doesn't mean we're leaving the PC version of Superfly behind - all these bugfixes performance improvements will come to both the Quest and Steam versions of Superfly. We appreciate your support over these last few years, and we hope that you’ll continue to enjoy Superfly!

As always, don’t forget to check out our Discord if you find any bugs, or have other questions, comments, or suggestions about Superfly!

TL;DR: New update out now, new Wanted Level System, with better health system, 11 new enemies, updated building graphics, and more difficult than ever before. See Changelog for a full list of changes.
