Let’s play Killer Queen Black! KQB is a multiplayer game that can be overwhelming at first. Don’t worry, in addition to some quick tips below, the KQB community is a great resource for learning more about gameplay and strategy. There’s even a fan-run Discord where it’s easy to find games, teams, and organized league play. Make sure to connect with the Bee Game League community.
Step #1: Take Advantage of Steam’s Summer Sale!
You’ve fired up KQB…here’s where to start
- The Tutorial. From the Main Menu > Local > Tutorial.
- Learn about the roles you can play, basic movements, and a little bit of strategy. You can even beat your bests for a personal challenge.
Step #2: Learn the Basics
KQB in a nutshell
- Modes of play explained.
- There are eight different maps that can be selected at random or you can choose which are in the rotation. Learn more about maps and on the community wiki page.
- Queens, don't forget to tag those gates.
- Enable crossplay: KQB is available for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
- Watch previously played games on KQBTV, accessible from the main menu.
- Teamwork is key. Use in-game voice chat or alerts to direct your team towards the best outcome.
Three Paths to Victory
Economy - Collect berries and get them into the holes before the other team completes any victory path. Berry piles are located throughout the map and do not regenerate.
Military - Kill the Queen three times - this can be achieved with your upgraded workers or with your Queen. There are four unique weapons to use, sword, morning star, laser, and stinger.
Snail - Ride Winston (or whatever you’d like to name them) through your team’s goal for a victory - perhaps the most satisfying, arguably the easiest.
Step #3: Work Your Way to Ranked Play
You know the feeling - you’re new, you get in a game, get your butt kicked, and never play again. Let’s not let that happen! KQB's core player base is really good and they want you to be good too! A good path to ranked is outlined below:
- Tutorial, tutorial, tutorial - yes, we already said this. Keep visiting the modules, try new things!
- Play with BOTS, play with friends, and join an online Quickplay game! Getting to communicate with others in a casual play setting will help you recognize the importance of each character and how to work together to achieve the best path to victory as a team.
- Ranked - Let's GO! Ranked play can be intimidating. Who cares!? You’re learning. Keep your eye on the #Looking-to-Play channels in KQB and BGL Discords and work your way up to the Obsidian level! We bee-lieve in YOU!
