To thanks to our fans and players for the support, here's another big update for Devil's Dare! In this update, we've made several balancing tweaks to the game based on our players feedback since release, as well as new ideas to spice up the gameplay.
Expert mode & Betting
The expert mode isn't just a simple tweak to the monster health and damage. Instead, players can choose to bet on their game. If you feel confident enough, challenge yourself by increasing the revive cost and take on some elite monsters. Killing them won't only be harder, but also more rewarding. Find out if you've got what it takes!
On top of that, health will no longer recovers at the end of each night in expert mode. Players will have to decide if they were to purchase an upgrade, or spend a little to recover their health instead.
Dodge & Run
Instead of a running away, players now dodge before they run off. Giving them a split second invincibility to get out of danger.
Run Cancel
When performing a combo, special moves or picking up items, press run to cancel your previous action immediately. This allows players to run away from danger or perform more combos at the expense of 1 Soul Point.
Special Cancel
More of a reminder than a new feature, the game actually feature special cancel. For example, when performing a Shield Dash, player can cancel the attack halfway to perform a Sword Spin, allowing him to deal more damage.
Game Balancing & Tweaks
- Boss Fight Timer : Players can no longer grind in boss fight. Each boss fight must be completed in time, else player will die when the time is up!
- Game Freezing Effects : Previously, when players uses a special moves, the game freezes and darken entirely. As good as it looks, it was rather disruptive for multiplayer mode. It's now a lot shorter and smooth, and only appears on Breakout and Special Cancel.
- Kingston Piledriver : Now cost only 2 Soul Points, though damage is reduced.
- Monster Armor : Stronger monsters like Mama's Boy and Mister X now freeze a little longer when hit, giving players a split second longer to escape when the monsters fight back.
- Skip Convention : Players can now skip the convention entirely from the character selection screen if they've gameover from the game once.
