One of the biggest updates to Pompeii: The Legacy has arrived! v1.020.0
Hello everyone!
Today, I'm excited to introduce a major new addition to Pompeii: The Legacy - Steam Workshop support and the Map Editor!
This update is a significant step forward for the game, opening the doors to community-created content and giving players the tools to shape their own Roman worlds.
For the first time, you can create your own landscapes, share your creations with other players, and expand the game with community-made mods.
Steam Workshop Is Now Live!
Pompeii: The Legacy now supports Steam Workshop!
Players can browse, subscribe to, and enjoy community-created content, bringing new possibilities to the game.
To get things started, I've already uploaded the very first Workshop item — a small statue mod. It's a simple beginning, but it demonstrates the new modding system and marks the start of what I hope will become a growing collection of community creations.
And this is just the beginning!
Create Your Own World With the Map Editor
Alongside Workshop support, I'm introducing the Map Editor, allowing you to design your own landscapes and turn them into playable maps.
With the Map Editor, you can:
Create new maps using existing landscape templates or start with an empty world.
Shape the terrain with editing tools to create hills, valleys, coastlines, islands, and other landscapes.
Import heightmaps from grayscale PNG images to create terrain from external sources.
Customize the environment by placing trees, vegetation, rocks, and other scenery.
Save and continue editing your projects whenever you like.
Export your creations as playable map mods that can be shared with the community.
Whether you want to recreate a landscape inspired by ancient Italy, build a challenging island settlement, or simply experiment with unusual terrain, the Map Editor gives you the freedom to do so.

Modding Tools and Publishing
I've also included a dedicated Pompeii Mod Tool, designed to help creators prepare, validate, and publish their work to Steam Workshop.
The process is straightforward: create your content, export it as a mod, test it in the game, and publish it for other players to enjoy.
Published mods can also be updated as their creators continue improving them.
To help everyone get started, I've prepared a Map Creation & Mod Guide, explaining the complete process from creating your first map to publishing it on Steam Workshop.
A New Chapter for Pompeii: The Legacy
This update is about more than adding a new editor or a Workshop button.
It's about giving the community the opportunity to expand Pompeii: The Legacy beyond the content I create myself.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you build, whether it's a beautiful coastal landscape, a challenging new environment, or something I haven't even imagined.
The first Workshop mod is already available, and I hope it will soon be joined by many more creations.
I'll also try to create and share a few more mods myself over the coming weeks, so there should be some new content to explore while the Workshop community gets started!
Thank you for your continued support, and I can't wait to see your creations!
