Welcome to this short guide on how to install mods in Abiotic Factor! It’s short because we’ve done our best to make this as streamlined as possible for our scientists.
Installing Gameplay Mods
Step 1: Click the new MODS button

You clicked the mods button! The Mod Library will now open. Here, you can browse through all the mods currently available. You can search for words and filter by tags to find the right mods for you.

Step 2: Pick a mod
Once you have located a mod you want, click the SUBSCRIBE button. Downloading shall begin.

It is now downloaded! Repeat with as many mods as you desire. (The UNSCUBSCRIBE button will uninstall the mod.)

Step 3: Enable your mods
To enable gameplay mods (non-cosmetic ones, we’ll get to that in a line or two) click through to your Saved Worlds and click on that brand new MODS button.

This will open up a menu, showing all your installed mods!

Pick the mods you want and click SAVE.
Step 4: Host your game as usual

That's it!
Installing Cosmetic Mods
For those wondering, we separated the cosmetic mods so that scientists will be able to hop between saves without having to enable them in every individual saved game.
Step 1: Click on the MODS button in the CUSTOMIZATION screen

Step 2: Enable your mods
Select the customization mod you want to use and they’ll appear as options in your regular old customization screen!

Step 3 (Optional): Tell your colleagues about the mod so they can see them too
Because the cosmetic mods are separate from the gameplay mods, only scientists with the same cosmetic mods downloaded will be able to see the modded items.
If a fellow scientist in your world does not have the same customization mods as you installed, they will see you in default clothes. Best way to fix this, let them know about your cool mod so they can download it too!
How to Join a Server that uses Mods
Step 1: Click JOIN
A popup window will appear with a list of the mods the server you are joining is using.

Step 2: Click CONTINUE

Those mods will start downloading automatically! Huzzah! Once they’re finished downloading, you’ll be popped into your fellow scientist’s world. You’re good to go!
A Useful Tip
There’s a tooltip indicator on modded items and recipes.

This way you'll be able to easily spot if something is from a mod.
You now have all the knowledge needed to become a fully modified machinator (I couldn't think of a word for 'scientist' that starts with 'm' - Criss)! We can’t wait to see what your GATE qualified minds will come up with.
