Hello, dear players!
After the 1.06 update, I went back and carefully read through your reviews, discussion posts, and feedback on Discord. This time, rather than focusing on new content, I concentrated on fixing performance issues and addressing the inconveniences you've encountered during gameplay.
In particular, many of you mentioned that the UI wasn't intuitive enough, that the game didn't adequately explain what certain numbers meant, and that performance deteriorated significantly in the late game when construction projects piled up. These were my main priorities for this update.
Here is what's changed in this update.
1. National Affairs UI Overhaul
(First of all, a special thank you to Robert Wang for helping with this overhaul!)
The National Affairs screen has been reorganized into four tabs: "National Overview," "Government Decisions," "Judiciary & Law Enforcement," and "Power Relations." The Judiciary and Power Relations screens, which many players had trouble finding, can now be accessed directly through these tabs.
The National Overview has been redesigned as a dashboard where you can see "National Leadership & Public Sentiment," "National Assembly, Administration & Political Risks," "National Objectives," and "Political Landscape & Opposition Forces" at a glance.
Cabinet ministers and second-in-command figures (such as Kim Jong-pil, Kim Hyong-uk, and Lee Hu-rak) are now displayed with portraits. The President and Prime Minister slots have also been cleaned up, with the current title above the portrait and only the person's name below it.
Clicking a minister's portrait or the Prime Minister slot on the dashboard now opens a small candidate selection window right there, allowing you to make appointments without switching to the Cabinet screen. (Game time is paused while this window is open.)
Clicking a value in the top HUD will now highlight the corresponding value on the National Overview dashboard.
The Cabinet Meeting screen has been reorganized with more compact minister seating and a two-column layout for agenda items. This fixes the issue where only one actionable agenda item was visible at a time.
2. Performance Improvements
Fixed an issue where opening the economic ledger or expanding completed facilities in the late game could freeze the game for several seconds, or even tens of seconds, when many construction projects were active.
Performance benchmarks (130 facilities):
Ledger refresh: approximately 16 seconds → 0.07 seconds
Expansion button: approximately 32 seconds → 0.3 seconds
Advancing one day with the ledger open: approximately 10 seconds → 0.2 seconds
Fixed an issue where the National Overview recreated portraits and objective panels every in-game day, causing clicks to be ignored or tooltips to disappear unexpectedly.
Reduced minor stutters related to autosaving, tab refreshes, and other operations, and cleaned up unused code.
3. War & Frontline Improvements
Fixed an issue where frontline progress could get stuck at 92% and never reach completion. Progress will now correctly reach 100% when the objective is achieved, and the number of remaining regions will be displayed.
Changed frontline management so that an assigned front is maintained along each shared border even after occupation. Also fixed an issue where corps would repeatedly move back and forth between their starting location and their target.
The Frontline screen now explains why each corps is unable to advance, including the specific reason, relevant numerical values, and possible solutions. This change addresses feedback that troop movement was difficult to understand due to insufficient explanations. (There's still a long way to go, though...)
Corps supply tooltips now provide a breakdown of the factors causing supply shortages.
4. Economy & Construction Quality-of-Life Improvements
Removed the nested tables from the project ledger and combined everything into a single scrollable area.
Active projects can now be expanded directly from their rows in the ledger, and tooltips show the expected effects of an expansion before you commit to it.
Allocation results (weekly construction progress and estimated completion dates) are now displayed in a fixed section that remains visible while scrolling. Allocation values can also be entered directly as numbers.
Added a button in the Five-Year Plan that takes you directly to projects recommended by the Economic Planning Board.
Projects nearing completion or currently stalled are now highlighted in the list, and the scale of the leading-indicator graphs has been adjusted for better readability.
5. Better Guidance & Explanations
Hovering over the values at the top of ministry ledgers now explains what each value represents, its current value, and why it changed this month. I've also added explanations for terms such as public sentiment, economic conditions, and inflation. Effect values are now shown in green when beneficial and red when harmful.
Added notifications for newly available ministerial candidates and Bank of Korea governor candidates, policies that can be enacted again, idle research teams, and research projects that have stopped because they are awaiting a stage review. (I added this after reading feedback from someone who spent ten years researching just a few technologies because they forgot to click "Continue Research"!)
Decisions that would permanently block progression through the Yushin stages now provide advance warnings.
The "Go To" button for National Objectives now takes you directly to the screen where you can actually perform the required action. Objectives with date requirements also display the time remaining.
Event documents now indicate how many more events are waiting, and a short delay has been added between consecutive events.
Tab names at the top of the Economy screen, status information on the right side of ministry screens such as the Labor Office, and effect values beneath policy cards are now displayed in bold for improved readability.
6. Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue in certain events where the event window would continuously shift up and down while the text was being displayed. Previously, every new line of text could move the window, potentially causing players to click the wrong choice. The window now stays in a fixed position from the beginning.
Fixed an issue where construction completion reports and negotiation results would keep accumulating under "To-Do" with crisis indicators. Reports can now be acknowledged individually, or cleared all at once using the "Acknowledge All" button.
Fixed numerous cases of text overflowing outside UI elements, including English menu names, Cabinet ledger titles, Power Relations cards, approval rows, and more. (If you find any I've missed, please let me know!)
Fixed an issue where pressing Esc on the military map would close the map before closing the currently open menu.
Fixed an issue where the Vice Chairman position of the Supreme Council was incorrectly displayed as vacant during the military government period.
7. Saves, Settings & Other Changes
"Continue" now loads the most recent save, whether it's an autosave or a manual save. The Load Game list is also sorted from newest to oldest.
Added a setting that lets you choose whether the game continues running when its window is in the background.
The ending chronicle now presents events in the actual chronological order of historical divergence, and the full ending text can be reread in the Archives.
Opening the military map (F2–F4) now keeps the left-side menu, top HUD, and bottom bar visible for a more consistent interface.
As always, being a solo developer means there are limits to how much QA testing I can do on my own, so your reviews and bug reports have been an enormous help.
Issues like the construction-related lag can be especially difficult to reproduce during my own playtesting. Thanks to your detailed reports, I was able to pinpoint the causes and fix them.
If you encounter any bugs or inconveniences while playing, please feel free to let me know through the comments, discussion boards, or official Discord! I'll do my best to address them as soon as I can.
I'll be back with another set of patch notes next time.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
