Yes. Keep up. This one comes in three parts: a privacy fix, a new button and a little secret. In that order, because I'm a responsible adult. Mostly.
Part 1: Vecter stops talking to Unity
A player on the forums (thanks Pepe!) noticed that Vecter creates Unity Analytics files on your computer when it starts. And they were right. Unity switches a bunch of its online services on by default, and they'd been sitting quietly inside Vecter for years. I never used any of them and no part of the game needs them. So they're gone:
- Unity Analytics: off
- Unity's cloud crash reports: off
- Hardware stats sent to Unity: off
- Unity's in-app purchase module (the "shop" bit): off. There was never anything to buy through it anyway. The game is free. It's been free since 2019. It's staying free. You know the drill.
I also added a check to how I build the game. If Unity ever switches any of this back on by itself (apparently it can... thanks Unity), the build stops and nothing reaches Steam.
Want to clean up the old files? Close Vecter and delete the folder called Unity in here:
- Windows: %USERPROFILE%\\AppData\\LocalLow\\Taranasus\\Vecter\\
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Taranasus/Vecter/
- Linux / Steam Deck: ~/.config/unity3d/Taranasus/Vecter/
ONLY the Unity folder. Do NOT delete the whole Vecter folder: your save lives in there. If you nuke your save, that one's on you. After this update the Unity folder shouldn't come back.
Part 2: There's a new box on the main menu

You might notice a little window in the top right corner of the main menu. It blinks. It says NEW. It says THE SEQUEL. Very subtle, I know.
Press WISHLIST ON STEAM and it opens the Steam page of my next game right in the Steam overlay, so you never leave Vecter. Overlay switched off? It opens Steam's store instead. No Steam at all? Your web browser. It works with mouse, keyboard and controller.
And no, the button doesn't count clicks or send anything anywhere. See Part 1. I'd be a right hypocrite otherwise.
The VECTER logo had to scoot over a bit to make room. Sorry, logo.
Part 3: So... about that sequel
Back in 2022 I told you I was starting a sequel to Vecter. Then it went very quiet.
It's not dead. It changed. A lot.

It's called Super Vecter Elite Turbo. Yes, really. I stand by it.
That's about all I'm telling you for now. Except this: the road in Vecter went through a neon void and never really went anywhere. This one goes somewhere. Somewhere real.

It's still being made, by me, in my spare time, as is tradition. There's no release date and I'm not going to pretend there is one. When there's more to show, you'll hear it here first.
The bit where I ask for something
If Vecter has given you a fun minute or a few hundred hours over the years, the best thing you can do for me right now is go to the new game's page and hit Wishlist (and Follow, while you're there). It's free, it takes two seconds, and for a small game like mine wishlists make a real difference to how many people Steam shows it to. There's no marketing department here. It's you. Congratulations, you're the marketing department.
