In case you missed the news, Sam & Max Save the World turned 20 years old this week! Yes, the original release of its premiere episode, Culture Shock, hit GameTap (remember GameTap?) on October 17, 2006. To celebrate we've been posting a bunch of historic Sam & Max artifacts and trivia over on Skunkape social media (with giveaways and contests to boot!), and we've also fixed a bunch of 20-year-old bugs! A few of the fixes in this patch are for the remaster, but most are old logic and gameplay bugs that have been around since the game first shipped. Let's dive in:
Patch notes for today’s Sam & Max Save The World update (version 2.2.0):
Episode 101: Culture Shock
Fixed FOV on cutscene camera getting stuck. The cutscene camera's FOV was not being reset at the end of every cutscene, so any cutscene that overrode it would leave its value stuck for any cutscene that didn't.
Clicking on Specs after he's been knocked out now causes Sam to reply, "He'll be out for a good while."
Specs no longer gets up and complains that you've tear gassed him, after he's already knocked out.
Fixed camera pops when using items on the dumpster in the street.
Fixed brief camera pops and holds talking to Specs.
Fixed car headlights popping in when entering the street scene from the sides at night.
Fixed Sybil not banging on the closet door when you've already met Specs or Whizzer before entering her office.
Fixed glitchy camera cuts and pops at the end of all cutscenes of Brady watching you from his security camera.
Re-added the missing normal map texture on Sybil's tiki planter.
Fixed using the tear gas on Peepers not working at all once he's knocked out.
Tweaked the timing of when characters look at each other when talking to Sybil about psychotherapy.
Fixed subtitles drawing underneath fade out when Sam is knocked unconscious by B.T.A.D.s.
Fixed Bosco's lipsync when Sam tries to take out a weapon.
Tweaked timing of Bosco's microphone animation when Sam tries to take out a weapon, so he returns to standing while the fade out is happening instead of holding the pose.
Fixed Whizzer's second yelling of "hey, that's my box" being weirdly loud.
Fixed Max popping after interacting with the posters by the bathroom in Bosco's.
Fixed Sam popping after using the Sale sign after Whizzer is knocked out.
Fixed the Poppers' van being squished in a pretty fun way if you shot the tire when it's way, way out on the horizon. I mean, look at it:

Fixed music outside the Black Hole theater not restarting after using the symptoms form on the reader.
Fixed some incorrect and not-very-dreamlike dialog playing when using the antenna on Max or the TV when inside Sam's hypnosis dream.
Fixed some pops that occur around the rotating sign, when skipping lines in the hypnosis dream.
Fixed incorrect "Caffeine Rush" animations playing on Peepers and Whizzer when attacked in Brady's theater.
Episode 102: Situation: Comedy
Fixed missing TV studio light texture in the audition room.
Episode 103: The Mole, The Mob, and The Meatball
Fixed missing teddy bear head textures outside the Casino at the end of the episode.
Episode 105: Reality 2.0
Fixed missing computer and notepad textures in Sybil's.
Episode 106: Bright Side of the Moon
Fixed car headlights popping on screen when entering the side of the street.
