Thank you!!!!!!!
In the first week after launch, Burn With Me was bought by 10 000 people. Ten Thousand!!! We are truly grateful for such a reception. Not only it's a nice number - at this point we've recouped all money spent on the game. Which we didn't expect to do in the very first week!
So - a big thank you. To everyone: who played the game, who reviewed it, wrote an article, streamed or made a video about it, or even told their friends about us.
Burn With Me is also at 90% positive now, with almost 300 reviews, which is wild. This is a very intimate project for us. And an experimental one! Many decisions in the game might look strange to you - but were very important and deliberate on our side.
Special thank you to all the players who experienced the game for longer than just "one playthrough". The game system is more intricate than it might seem from the first breeze through the story, and we are very grateful for all the players who got onto that discovery adventure, tried out hardmode, filled the Bestiary, completed some of the challenges. We love seeing such devotion - and hope you had a good time with the game.
What else... We got trading cards, got reviewed for Steam Deck (not "Verified", but at least "Playable", which we might change in the future), and read a ton of nice words by outlets and players. (Tonda Ros, thank you!)
What's next?
With us basically getting our money back in just one week, and still many many weeks ahead, we are of course considering some content updates!
First content update: this October!
We want to give you all a small thank you before Halloween.
This update will introduce... let's call them, small story bits for completing hardmode. Just a couple of images for each chapter, that will uncover some of the interactions between students - and maybe even give a hint or two for the ending of the game (which by the way should be already solvable for curious and observant among you!)
Also, we'll add the ability to rewatch seen cutscenes from the menu. And a setting to automatically skip all seen cutscenes!
Later content update(s): this winter?
In contrast to our previous game Robot Detour (which you should play, it's cheap and fun!), this time we do have a lot of ideas for additional content for the game. Of course, as free updates!
Main two ideas are:
an additional epilogue chapter about a certain character in the game, and
infinite mode!
About infinite mode. We could have included a half-baked "infinite mode" in the initial release, but the thing is - we tried longer runs without touching the gameplay, and it wasn't fun! And I didn't want to release anything that didn't seem fun to me.
Good news is - I think now I know a way to make the longer runs as exciting as shorter ones, without the need to make a full-on roguelike edition of Burn With Me. But we'll still need some time to cook it properly!
Again, thank you so much for the support. Love you all!
Ivan, Eva, and the rest of Burn With Me team
