Sam & Max Season One (aka Sam & Max Save the World) came out on GameTap's streaming service on October 17, 2006, followed by a worldwide release on November 1. Somehow that was twenty years ago.😅
We're celebrating this milestone with two weeks of Sam & Max development memories and giveaways over on Bluesky. Share our daily #samandmax20th posts for chances to win a game key for any of our Sam & Max remasters or Poker Night at the Inventory!
Today we've also launched a trivia contest with three copies of the Sam & Max Save the World soundtrack on vinyl up for grabs. This contest involves one of Save the World's most memorable moments: the War Song.
What's This I Hear? What Wondrous Thing?
In Sam & Max Save the World's fourth episode, a group of Secret Service agents unexpectedly break into three-minute song-and-dance number in the Oval Office — and it almost didn’t make it into the game. Members of the dev team recently chatted about the Herculean task of creating the song for an oral history article on Design Room:
Sam & Max's War Song: An oral history, 20 years later
The article is normally a subscriber exclusive, but the paywall has been removed for one week as part of our 20th anniversary celebration. Read it while you can!

War Song Trivia Contest
Drawing from the oral history, we've come up with eleven trivia questions that are either impossibly hard or incredibly easy, depending on your reading comprehension skills. (Spoiler: the Design Room oral history has all the answers!)
Each correct answer gives you a chance to win. Entries are due at 11:59pm PDT on October 25, and we'll announce the winners the week of October 26.
