Cursed Update v4
Read the original on Steam ↗2 new classes have been added. There's the Busted Clanker who tunes his unique unremovable Arm-Blaster gun and cannot heal naturally, but instead can recycle old weapons to heal and boost your XP further. Then there's the Accursed Hollow whose runs are even more random than usual due to having ready access to the new Cursed Deadzones.
The Cursed Deadzones are a new rare zone you can choose to enter just like the other special Deadzones. It has the highest difficulty rating though due to it being a bit random as all the enemies within are Cursed, which boosts all of their Stats by between 1-22% (including XP/Score rewards).
2 new bosses have been added. The Lair of the Beast game mode now has an Abominable Snowman boss where you'll be wandering a Yeti filled snowzone but you best hurry before the frostbite sets in. The True Horror Tales game mode now has a new boss arena where you'll need to survive waves of endless Eldritch Squids.
4 new regular enemies have been added: Frost Yeti, Shroomoussy Mimic, Cosmic Squidum, Eldritch Squidous. The Skeleton Shambler/Gangler now also have ranged bow variants too.
8 new enemy related minor zone events have been added: Outlaw Hunted, Werewolf Camp, Shroom Nest, Vine Nest, Soul Hole, Squid Hole, Cursed Room, Mech Room.
3 new Arcana items...
- Droneous Arcana: A self-repairing mining drone will help fight for you.
- Dataeum Arcana: Each zone you gain Score equal to your Health x2.
- Cursed Arcana: Zones will contain an extra 1-3 Cursed enemies.
A new Device item has been added called the Polymorph which transforms all enemies that see you into weak Slimes. The Wizard Conjurer class also has this as a new spell.
The Blunderbuss and Flak Cannon now have a unique weapon trait called Shrapnel, which if it hits an enemy at range can damage surrounding enemies too (so basically a safe version of Boom).
3 new Talents...
- Dexterity - Smooth Strike: Attacks that inflict a Critical hit won't reduce its weapon Durability.
- Survival - Outlaw Runner: Each zone an Outlaw Hunter awaits to put your head in a box.
- Fortitude - Juggernaut: If taken to zero Health your Power stat is reduced instead of you dying.
Since there's so many bosses now I thought it'd be neat if there was an achievement for each of the bosses you bust, instead of just for the game modes. If you've already beaten those bosses then you can just open the Bestiary or beat another boss for it to trigger those achievements. There's also 5 other new achievements associated with the new content.
When moving if there's an obstacle in the way it will now attempt to shunt you out of the way instead of stopping you (eg if moving right and there's a barrel in the way it may move you up-right). It makes running around feel a bit nicer since you're not getting hung up, and can be useful on gamepad's especially if you want to move diagonally around a wall corner.
You can now Save & Quit mid-level via the Escape Menu, which will put your right back in the action where you saved (instead of previously where you could only save/load on the Zone Complete screen). This was rather finnicky to get in and working as you have to make sure you're saving/loading all the necessary level variables so let me know if I've missed something.
Other misc changes...
- The Zone Entry now shows the zone number, and hovering over the radar now also shows it too.
- If you could Level Up multiple times in the same turn then it will now automatically do it (instead of it waiting for you to end a turn each time).
- Some new weapon sounds have been added: Laser (Pistol), Laser (Rifle), Plasma (Pistol), Plasma (Rifle).
- The Enemy Health/Skill/Power stats have been slightly boosted based on your own XP Level starting from Level 11 onwards (to help balance the offset of getting a lot of Levels).
- Terminal - Talentous Monolith: The Stat cost for mega enhancing a Talent is now always 10 (instead of it increasing to 15/20 based on the current Zone number).
- Class - Merchantile Trader: When selling items at the Merchantile Trade screen it will now sell the full stack of that item (instead of individually one by one).
- Boss - Werewolf: The forest now has some large trees (to break up line of sight).
- Enemies - Mr Gimp, Saucy Succubus: They now always drop a gear item.
- Arcana item - Mecha Arcana: The chance for the Action to be re-used has increased to 50% (from 44%).
- Device item - Nanite Device: Its effects now last for 25 turns (instead of 10).
- Device item - Shadow Device: Its effects now last for 25 turns (instead of 18-24).
Bug fixes...
- Boss - Arcaniumous Core: Entering the level didn't show an objective message.
- Talents that give random loadout ammo would cause a crash if you didn't have a gun in your loadout.
- Class - Guru Elder: At the Level Up screen the options would be wrongly spaced if you were offered 6 Talent options.
- Item - Elixir Device: If you were at full Health but still had a status effect then this action couldn't be used.
- Item - Lucky Coin: This was boosting your Luck stat by +7 (instead of +3).
- Terminal - Arcanium Monolith: It wasn't playing its very important 'YEAH' sound.
- Terminal - Talentous Monolith: When mega enhancing an unenhanced Talent it would show the regular enhanced Talent description.
- Enemy - Necromantic Boneraiser: Killing it wasn't also killing the Skeleton Gangler.
- Regular enemies could sometimes spawn inside special event rooms (eg plague containment).
Enjoy! :]
