It will be update 2.0, and will include among other thing, the major optimisation i've shared, Online Co-op and a new modings API and Tools
Current version will always be available, free from AI for people that prefer to play a version without AI
Co-op is an addition optional way to play the game, that doesn't affect player that would prefer to play in single-player I am saying this cause I've seen some people worried that single-player balance may be upset by co-op, but they would be separately balanced.
For now, the update is not yet ready for public testing on a separate branch, but it should come in the upcoming week when I finished stabilizing the moding API and debugging co-op.

Before being a game-developer or a programmer, I am an artist.
I am doing 3D modelling since 2012, both drawing and programming since 2016, I then studied in a art-school for 4 years to work as game-artist), and using AI generated art-work doesn't stand well with me.
Using Gen AI assets is an hard limit that I will not cross.

To me, AI is a tool before anything, like any-tool, it is important to handle it properly. I'll write 3 dev-blogs in the near future to explain in details the 3 big changes to come with update 2.0 (Optimisation, Co-op and new moding tools) so people will be reassured that I still know what I am doing.
14 persons asked for an AI-free version of the game This was going to happened anyways, I always create a branch with the last patch of each major version, you can find it in the properties tab of the game, in "Game Versions & Betas" Actually, the branch has already been created, and anyone can already move into it if they wish.

There has been the subject of AI usage disclosure on Steam. First off, I wouldn't have written if I were not planning to disclose it or trying to hide it (come on don't be ridiculous),
so yes it'll be disclosed when it'll be part of the game.
I've said in the comments that AI usage disclosure for Code is optional, This was my interpretation since the official documentation has removed the mention of code from the list of assets during 2026, with a mention that say that AI powered tools are not part of the disclosure.
After a bit of deliberation, I came to the conclusion that it is ambiguous, so I sent a message to Steam-support 3 days ago,
So far, there has been not Reponses from the Steam support, I'll be sure to update and share it when I receive one (since it's a real question a lot of developer don't have an official answer to) I suspect this is a debating topic to Steam themselves since they usually respond in less than 24 hours.

Got a response from steam support, which is still ambiguous, but they recommend to disclosing it for transparency's sake

After adding more context, I got a more precise answer from valve; this still doesn't change my commitment to disclose AI usage when integrated into the game.
