Let us please introduce JDM: Ph4ntom Driver !

It’s a standalone action-oriented, arcade racing game with a brawling gameplay focus, inspired by the JDM street culture and Japanese folklore. It’s probably easier to show than tell, so let’s start with a teaser trailer:
Before we continue with the presentation of the new title, we just wanted to stress that this new game in no way impacts our support for JDM: Japanese Drift Master. You can still expect the liveries system to launch very soon, as well as some additional surprises that we still have lined up for the game and shall be discussing in detail soon.
Truth be told, the recent physics update that you have seen is the result of the work we’re putting into Ph4ntom Driver. On the other hand, the features we’ve already built for JDM have already been adapted or were created from scratch to support the upcoming title as well, including the multiplayer component.
OK, now let’s see what JDM: Ph4ntom Driver has to offer:
Concept Origins
Ph4ntom Driver is a spin-off of JDM: Japanese Drift Master and shares more than only the brand name with our previous title. Initially the game concept was conceived as an expansion for JDM but when we started working on it, it quickly became apparent that we want to change too much in the formula and we need to go stand-alone with this project. Since then it only got more ambitious and bigger.
Gameplay
Expect a full-on arcade experience that is definitely closer to the fantasy style of racing. This change opened the doors for us to create a cinematic and flashy gameplay that’s more accessible for players. Your cars will be agile, easily controllable and sharp. They will utilize Nitro-Drift that combines drifting with boosting at the same time, which is crazy fun, easy to grasp and allows for growth and experimentation in how you want to control your rides. In other words: an easy to get into experience, but hard to master.
To make it a reality we have completely revamped our physics system.
Phantom Driver will be action focused. Your car is your weapon - there will be no swords or guns attached to it, no ranged attacks possible - it’s just you, your driving skills and hundreds of kilograms of moving mass at high speeds ramming into scores of evil demons.
On the subject of cars - you will have plenty of JDM inspired, non-licensed and stylised options available to collect through game progression. They are not only a means of transport, they need to be durable and sharp to keep the driver alive.
Setting
Through some dramatic circumstances you land in the Spirit World - a once green and lush land turned dark, damp and oppressive after a demonic invasion which you yourself accidently started. Corrupted by evil magic it grows ever distant from the real world trapping you inside. To survive you will need to keep moving, find allies and confront the demon king himself - Shouten Douji.
The spirit world is inhabited by all sorts of Youkai: from cute Kodama (tree spirits) to Oni (demons), Omukade (giant centipedes) and other various creatures which we won’t spoil today.
Phantom Driver utilizes the open world of Guntama, which has been thoroughly redesigned and stylised to fit our vision of the Spirit World. We hope you will equally have fun in finding recognizable spots from JDM as you will admire how we changed things up.
Game Modes
JDM: Ph4ntom Driver will have a lengthy single player campaign, told through hand-drawn manga and a dialogue system, allowing for deep storytelling. We are also planning a multiplayer mode, but you will have to wait for more information on that in the future.
