We’re currently working on several features for the Trench phase, which are so closely interconnected in terms of balancing that we’ve decided to implement them all at once. This means that our next update will be larger than originally planned and may therefore take a little longer.
The overarching aim of the new Trench phase is to reduce the proportional amount of traditional ‘Leutnant’ projects and instead create more room for autonomous decision-making. In other words, less focus on simply working through set tasks and more on deciding how to deal with specific situations and problems.
To kick things off, today’s Dev Diary focuses on a change designed to make managing rations and ammunition more challenging.
So far, soldiers could be sent to the camp at any time to collect provisions. Going forward, the plan is to have fixed dates on which a soldier must be dispatched to pick up rations for the upcoming period.
Of course, things don’t always go according to plan. Depending on the situation, delays or other difficulties may arise, which must be taken into account during planning. If a deadline is missed, the time until the next delivery must be managed accordingly.
Regarding ammunition, there will no longer be an automatic consumption rate per round. Consumption will be directly linked to specific projects. To compensate for this, ammunition can no longer simply be obtained at any time. You will therefore need to manage the ammunition allocated to you at the start carefully. If you do run out, you can ask the Leutnant for additional ammunition, which will, however, result in a slight loss of reputation.
Of course, there will be other ways to obtain the necessary resources. These, however, are part of features we’ll be talking about in our next Dev Diaries :)
