Hi everyone,
We have a new game on Steam. It's called Port Control, and the simplest way to describe it is Rail Route on water: you run the traffic of a seaport from the control room.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2051160/Port_Control/What is it about
You build the port (quays, berths, cranes, warehouses, roads) and then you run it. Ships arrive, you send out a pilot, call the tugs, find a free berth and decide where the cargo goes once it's unloaded. Big ships can only come in at high tide, so you need to plan ahead.
The big difference from Rail Route is that ships can't stop. A large container ship needs a long way to brake, so you have to spot a problem well before it happens.
Same as in Rail Route, you start by doing everything by hand, and when the port gets too busy you can automate it step by step.
It's still early
To be honest, what you see on the store page is an early build and it's still quite far from the final game. Graphics, UI and a lot of the mechanics will change, some of them a lot. We could have waited until it looks finished, but we'd rather start building the community now, so you can follow the development and tell us what you think while there's still time to change things. A lot of Rail Route came from your feedback, and we want to do it the same way here.
And Rail Route?
Rail Route isn't going anywhere. We keep fixing and updating it. There might be a new DLC about freight traffic next year!
How you can help
If you like the idea, please add Port Control to your wishlist. Steam uses wishlists to decide who to show the game to, so for a small studio like us it really matters.
