We told you we weren’t done with the world of Atherton Labs and their abhorrent (but sort of cool) experiments. Today we revealed the next BIG thing happening in the world of oversized arachnids - Hardcore Mode AND our first DLC add-on, Protect & Serve, launching Oct 26. First off, here’s the trailer. Spoiler, it’s ace.
Hardcore Mode
This is something we knew would get added one day. Creating a core experience based around a phobia, focusing on stealth and cunning with limited save points and intelligent insta-kill enemies…clearly it was going to be too easy for some! Adding more spiders, finding ways to challenge people, punishing rewarding the dedicated players was the goal. So in Hardcore Mode, we’ve doubled up on all Huntsman spawns, increased the speed of some Orb Weavers AND added a new limited save system. One save = one save disk. And there aren’t many in the game! Top tip - use lots of distractions. Lots and lots of distractions.
Protect & Serve
There are many many MANY more stories to tell in the world we’re creating and a big part of this DLC is to answer a few lingering questions while also giving what many of you have asked for; combat. Yes, this time you’re stepping into the shoes of a police officer, early on scene and looking for answers, you’re also packing a deadly six shooter. And no, you’re not three days from retirement! The DLC picks up shortly after the main game credits.
Protect & Serve throws players into a new type of Huntsman experience and one we want to test for…future reasons. Our one tip for now - conserve your ammo. It really shouldn’t be treated as a luxury. Conserve that ammo
More Spiders Pack & Nature Pack
Our social channels are swamped with suggestions for new spider types. Seriously, we didn’t know this many arachnologists even existed, with all the amazing types you show us (also your Latin is impeccable). We teased two new packs today and they’ll be available to buy soon but for now, the focus is on the free mode and the DLC.
