Pete Kayer has arrived to help sharpen your PvP skills! Take on his challenges and get ready to confidently say, "1v1 me bro"...
Changelog - October 7th
Pete Kayer's Challenges
- Pete Kayer has arrived at Ferox Enclave, and has got a number of challenges to help you master must-have skills for both PvP and PvM content:
- Prayer Protection - react to your opponent's gear switches to get the right protection prayer up in time and mitigate incoming damage. This one even has an endless mode which ramps up to maximum intensity for you to warm up in or try to beat your personal bests.
- Power of Freezes - learn to use freezing/binding spells to control opponents and buy yourself time to safely log out. You'll also learn how to react to multiple opponents using Mithril/Adamant seeds! There's an endless mode here for you to practise as much as you'd like.
- Special Attacks - master the element of surprise by learning to perform unpredictable special attacks with a variety of weapons. Once you've completed this one, you can use it as a 'free practice' mode where you'll be supplied with a wide variety of Special Attack weapons so that you can practice using them on NPCs with rapid Special Attack Energy restoration.
- Gear Switching - go on the offensive and keep your opponent on their toes by learning to switch your gear in response to an opponent switching their own gear and prayers. This one's a great warmup even for the PvMers out there, and also has an endless mode which allows you to customise the speed at which your opponent changes their gear.
- Combo Eating - sample Gielinor's gastronomic delights by wolfing down Sharks, Saradomin Brews and Karambwans in rapid succession. Here you'll learn the correct order to combo-eat in, as well as how to time them in response to incoming damage. There's an endless mode here too so you can really shore up your muscle memory.
- Pete's Penultimate Challenge: Complete all of these and you'll be able to take on this challenge, a showdown with Pete Kayer himself using some mid-tier gear.
- Pete's Final Challenge: If you manage to impress him at the Penultimate challenge, you'll be able to face his final one, a face-off in high-end gear where Pete will pull out all of the stops. You can expect him to fake his gear switches, predict your own, utilise freezes effectively and even combo eat.
- If you manage to survive Pete's final challenge, you'll be granted a special item from Pete's collection of curiosities: an Ancient cosmetic kit for your Imbued God Cape, with Max Cape and Deadman Cape variants to boot!
- As you tick off challenges you'll also be awarded a small number of Blighted supplies to help get you started in your first forays into the Wilderness, and a limited number of points (25) for Justine's Last Shopper Standing shop, so consider putting your skills to the test in Last Man Standing if you find yourself a few points off of a reward that you'd really like!
- You can customise your loadouts for both fights with Pete and your combo eating inventory either in the UI before starting the task, or by right-clicking Pete himself and selecting 'Loadouts' under the 'Information' option.
Stackable Net Traps
- You can now make stackable Net traps by combining Rope and a Small Fishing Net. This means the item will stack in your inventory, no longer taking up the majority of the precious inventory space.
- Stackable Net Traps:
- Require Level 29 Hunter to make
- Can be traded with other players
- Can be stored in the Huntsman's Kit
- Can be bought at Hunter Shops
- Can't be dismantled back into Ropes and Small Fishing Nets
- Added right-click 'Reset' option to Net Traps, Bird Snares, Rabbit Snares and Magic Boxes.
- When a Net Trap fails, it will now enter a 'failed net-trap' state similar to a Box Trap where you'll have time to reset the trap. Using the "Reset" option returns the traps to its active state, meaning you'll no longer need to pick up components from the floor and set the trap back up from scratch!
Other Changes
- Eating a Wild Kebbit no longer gives a message about Moonlight Antelope.

Pete Kayer's Challenges

Pete Kayer has arrived at Ferox Enclave, and is challenging the brave souls among you to a variety of exercises, aimed at building up your confidence with important mechanics for both PvP and PvM content.

He's got a number of challenges set up to help you master some must-have skills:
Complete all of these and you'll be able to take on Pete's Penultimate Challenge, a showdown with Pete Kayer himself using some mid-tier gear. He'll take things a little easier on you here, but this should still prove somewhat tough for those of you with limited PvP experience. If you impress him here, you'll be able to face Pete's Final Challenge - no more pulling punches, this is a face-off in high-end gear where Pete will pull out all of the stops. You can expect him to fake his gear switches, predict your own, utilise freezes effectively and even combo eat.
To manage expectations, this fight is genuinely difficult and will overwhelm you if you're brand new to PvP or not comfortable with PvP - the aim here is for this fight to serve as a meaningful benchmark for your progress where you can actually see that you've improved, rather than giving you a bunch of easy activities and having you call it a day without being close to ready for the challenges posed by other players in the Wilderness.
If you manage to survive Pete's final challenge, you'll be granted a special item from Pete's collection of curiosities: an Ancient cosmetic kit for your Imbued God Cape, with Max Cape and Deadman Cape variants to boot!

You can customise your loadouts for both fights with Pete and your combo eating inventory either in the UI before starting the task, or by right-clicking Pete himself and selecting 'Loadouts' under the 'Information' option.

As you tick off challenges you'll also be awarded a small number of Blighted supplies to help get you started in your first forays into the Wilderness, and a limited number of points (25) for Justine's Last Shopper Standing shop, so consider putting your skills to the test in Last Man Standing if you find yourself a few points off of a reward that you'd really like!
There's not much more for us to say here, but we do sincerely hope that Pete's challenges help you learn or master mechanics that can help improve your confidence against other players. Just remember that they are challenges, while they do serve as a tutorialisation for a number of core skills, you wouldn't be learning much if they were all trivial to tick off - so don't be disheartened if you're struggling to nail them on the first go, that's part of the learning process!
Stackable Net Traps
We're continuing from where we left off with the Gathering Efficiencies! Last week's game update saw the release for constructing Deadfall and Pitfall traps using logs from the Log Basket. These week brings another Hunter QoL improvement, which is highly-awaited by some of you: Stackable Net Traps.
You can now make stackable Net traps by combining Rope and a Small Fishing Net. This means the item will stack in your inventory, no longer taking up the majority of the precious inventory space.

Stackable Net Traps:
- Require Level 29 Hunter to make
- Can be traded with other players
- Can be stored in the Huntsman's Kit
- Can be bought at Hunter Shops
- Can't be dismantled back into Ropes and Small Fishing Nets
Right-Click 'Reset' Option
When a Net Trap fails, it will now enter a 'failed net-trap' state similar to a Box Trap where you'll have time to reset the trap. You'll notice that a right-click "Reset" option is now available while the trap is in a failed state. Using the "Reset" option returns the traps to its active state, meaning you'll no longer need to pick up components from the floor and set the trap back up from scratch!
Aside from Net Traps, the right-click 'Reset' option is now also available for Bird Snares, Rabbit Snares and Magic Boxes.

That's a wrap from these changes for now, but the remaining Gathering Efficiencies proposals are still on our list, and we'll release them whenever there's availability in our weekly update schedule.
Other Changes
- Eating a Wild Kebbit no longer gives a message about Moonlight Antelope.
