Hey gang!
I think a lot of you are curious about what I plan to do with frukt in the near future. First and foremost, I need to clean up the code a bit and remove the shit I threw in there during the pre-release rush. Right after that, I want to:
- Finish the grenade. Yes, finish it - not build it from scratch. A lot of it is already implemented; it just needs some polishing and testing. I had planned to include it in the release, but I cut it out the day before the game came out.
- Finish the new map. I think many of you realize that something is missing from it
- Polish the health inspection feature. I can see that you guys liked this menu, but it also received a lot of constructive criticism, such as the fact that the bpm display shows incorrect data. I agree with this and of course, I'm not going to leave the feature in this state
- New context menu actions, such as changing object mass and disabling pain. I think it's important right now to broaden the scope of interaction with the game a bit
- A collision switch for the map in the "world" menu. Imo, this would be a great addition to the gravity mechanics
- Overall polish of the game: in some places, the sound isn't quite right; in others, the animations are a bit clunky, and so on
- A few new props
- It might be possible (though not certain) to implement the player's physical movement. In other words, I'll do it eventually, but I can't guarantee it will be anytime soon - the gravity mechanics have made it a bit more complicated to implement
Also, a lot of talented mod developers are joining frukt, which makes me incredibly happy. Since the game will now be updated more frequently than the demo version - it’s important to create at least a simple, more or less stable mod API that developers can use for their work, so their mods break a little less often during updates.
And a few words about long-term plans. I don’t plan on publishing a roadmap just yet, because I don’t want to limit the game’s evolution with any fixed goals-let alone a specific order in which they’ll be implemented. Both you and I are always looking for new things to see in frukt. So, I think it’ll be better if I just keep listening to your suggestions, and thanks to some flexibility in planning, I’ll be able to respond to them more quickly. That said, you can check out the game’s general direction in the Discord, in #plans channel (there are too many of them and they are subject to change, so I’m not including them here) and I'll definitely continue to share my short-term plans and current progress with you.
Thank you for your attention frukt town! I will continue working hard to ensure the game brings you more and more enjoyment :)
