Ver.0.0.4.0: Quests, a New Friend & Performance Improvements — Call of Boba News

Hey, Boba Masters!

[p align="start"]Not sure where to start in Tapioca Town? Running into slowdowns during long sessions, or struggling to recover an item you left behind? This update brings a new quest system, a new friend, and a host of improvements to everyday life in town.

Ver.0.0.4.0 highlights: a new quest system and town stories, Tide the Fishing Master, Arcade Point prizes, a Lost and Found box, and major performance improvements.

A Quest Log for Your Next Town Adventure

[p align="start"]The pause menu now has a Quests tab. Filter by Main, Side, Dreamland, and more; check descriptions, objectives, and rewards; and look back on completed quests. New quests, finished objectives, and completed quests come with dedicated pop-ups, stamp animations, confetti, and sound effects.

[p align="start"]Remember to claim completed quest rewards from the quest menu!

[p align="start"]Tutorial quests help you settle into Tapioca Town:

Say Hello! — Greet at least 10 townsfolk.
Your First Gift — Give your first gift and learn what the locals like.
A Visit to Amelia's — Buy Tapioca Candy at the general store in Matcha Market.
Fishing lessons — Find Tide by the arcade river and learn to fish.

[p align="start"]Three town stories also arrive with cutscenes: Flora's Flower Troubles calls for Morning Spring Water drawn between 6:00 and 10:00 AM; Play for Prizes! introduces a new arcade event; and The Injured Fishing Master asks you to bring 5 fish to a friend in need.

Meet Tide, the Fishing Master

[p align="start"]This self-proclaimed Fishing Master has arrived in Tapioca Town—with an injured paw. Visit the otter by the arcade river, help him gather 5 fish, and pick up some fishing skills along the way! Tide has 6 portrait expressions, and Flora has new expressions too.

Turn Arcade Points into Prizes

[p align="start"]Every arcade round earns Arcade Points. Complete "Play for Prizes!", then talk to Gale to redeem them.

Starcrystal Boba costs 300 points and permanently raises your maximum stamina by 30 when consumed. Limited to one per save.

[p align="start"]The redesigned stamina bar grows longer as your maximum stamina increases.

Left Something Behind? Check the Lost and Found

[p align="start"]If your bag is full, quest rewards now drop at your feet instead of disappearing. At the end of each day, items left on the ground are collected in the Lost and Found box. Find it beside the mailbox next to your home in the residential area.

Major Performance Improvements

[p align="start"]We've worked through a range of slowdown, memory, and loading issues:

Optimized liquids and pathfinding in dream combat, and fixed several memory leaks to improve longer combat sessions.
Improved texture loading between areas to reduce missing textures and black screens during transitions.
Optimized other systems across the town and UI.

More Little Improvements

The title screen now includes A Cup of Thanks, our Credits page, with milk tea waves, scrolling credits, and bubbles to pop. Thank you to everyone who helped make the game—and to you!
Shops now support purchase limits and "Sold Out" labels.
The general store sells Tapioca Candy in every season. Each restores 90 stamina.
Choose "Shop" or "Chat" when speaking with Amelia and Flora. Both have new dialogue too.

Bug Fixes

Fixed occasional freezes when passing out from exhaustion late at night.
Fixed switching hotbar slots while eating sometimes consuming the wrong item.
Fixed Boxing Cats sometimes freezing the game in certain dream layouts.
Fixed existing puddles showing incorrect colors or opacity after switching liquid weapons.
Fixed overlapping transitions when falling asleep and entering a dream.
Fixed long shop descriptions overflowing their text box.
Corrected the Golden Oolong seed's season text (Summer), the mahi-mahi name typo, and several mismatched Chinese and English lines.

Please Read: Existing Saves

You can continue playing your existing saves.
Saves that have completed the tutorial automatically unlock "Say Hello!" and "Your First Gift".
Saves that have completed Chapter 2 receive its missing chapter rewards. Claim them from the quest menu.
The milk tea shop wallpaper will reset to the default style.
