Dear Community,
We have confirmed that there is a vulnerability in the game's code that allows hackers to compromise your PC.
However, this only happens when you join a random person's dedicated server.
What does it do?
- It can fully compromise your PC if you fall victim to this vulnerability.
What is safe and what's not?
Offical servers (meaning they are listed in the "offical" tab in the multiplayer menu) are completely safe to join, so there is no need to worry about them. You can join normal steam lobbies via an invite or through the steam-overlay. However, do not join random people's dedicated server. Steam lobbies are only accessible via an invite or the steam-overlay. Anything else, like using direct connect or having to click on the server-name is a dedicated server.
When will this be fixed?
This will be fixed in the newest version (v1.3R). This fix will not be applied to the current version (v1.295). The current version of the game (v1.295) is not being maintained. Why? Because the source code is gone. We only have the source code for the versions above v1.295. -------
Also to anybody wondering why the previous minor update changed the game:
The previous minor update was not v1.3R. It's a hybrid version between v1.295 and v1.3 called the "Anomaly Ascension Update". This is the reason why the previous minor update broke a few mechanics here and there, all of which are fixed in v1.3R.
