September 23 Update
Hi everyone! This update redesigns the Steam home screen and improves how paper figures are analyzed and shown in stories.
Home Screen and Ruka
- The Steam home screen has a new hallway background and logo. Navigation now has icons and hover effects, and the announcement entry fits the new layout.
- Ruka is now the only bundled starter character. Her portraits and avatar have been updated, with more multiplayer emotes added.
- Character position and scaling have been adjusted so the editor preview better matches the game across different window sizes.
- Desktop settings now offer window-resolution options for windowed mode and keep your choice after a restart.
Documents and Figures
- You can configure and test a separate custom vision model in the Steam version. Image analysis through that model does not use Paper2Gal image-analysis points.
- Paper figures receive more informative descriptions. Story generation tries to place relevant figures beside the matching explanation and leaves unrelated figures out.
- Improved recovery when a vision model returns malformed output, and added clearer messages for daily limits and requests made too frequently.
- Improved compatibility for in-story questions with custom AI models. If a model rejects reasoning parameters, its compatible setting is remembered so later questions avoid the same error.
Steam and Source Import
- In-game announcements can now show recent Steam announcements in the selected language.
- If the Steam game language differs from the local choice, the language selection prompt appears again. Your in-game selection and community language-pack setting are preserved.
- Added an experimental Zotero add-on. Once installed, it can start story or free-mode tasks from local PDFs, and saved stories can link back to the source in Zotero. It requires a separate installation and the updated Steam game.
- Fixed some local background loading and saving issues. The background picker no longer waits for Workshop refresh before showing local items.
Experimental Linux Support
- Added experimental Linux x64 support using Steam Runtime 4. A compressed archive has been built locally and passed package checks; Linux desktop testing remains, and it has not been officially released.
