Hello Vikings!
It has once again been a little while since our last dev update, so here we are again. Let us begin with saying thank you to everyone that has reached out to us over the years. Everything to bug reports, feedback, positive comments or even just a simple poggers really helps us keep motivated. It's also nice to see some activity coming back to the community even if only in this form.
But let's talk about the game! In our last patch we introduced the new skill tree, which we are delighted got a lot of positive feedback! Of course there are still smaller adjustments to be made, but we are happy with the overall result. One such adjustment that's going live soon is that you unlock the next skill even if the one before is not maxed out.
On the topic of bugs and optimization, we've finally made a big breakthrough in our memory leakage. While this shouldn't have had an impact on normal runs, it did cause quite a problem on longer runs that did loop. If you've done a long looping run, then you can expect it to run a bit smoother from the next patch and onwards.
We've also made a small change in our release flow. From now on we will be pushing more hotfixes as soon as possible after they come to our attention and keep the actual game updates more focused on adding content, balancing and optimization. For now, the next update, which we will release later this month, will be a bit on the smaller scale.
We would also like to clarify something said in our last dev update where we mentioned that it was our last major patch before 1.0. The skill tree rework was our last major update that changed core mechanics in the game. What this means is that we still have plans for larger updates that deserve the 0.8 or 0.9 title, they will just not have any major gameplay changes.
