Thank you for being with us throughout a little over a year of Early Access. Thanks to your feedback, our roadmap has continued to grow with new features, improvements, and even new directions, helping us make PBS the best experience possible.
1.0 marks a major milestone, but certainly not the end of the adventure. We still have plenty of ideas for PBS. In the meantime, here is everything arriving with this update!
✨ Major Changes
🍽️ New Dishes & Breakfasts
New dishes: Bone Marrow, Sole Meunière, Vol-au-vent, Whole Lobster, Pain Perdu, and Beef Wellington.
New pastries: Apple Turnover, Pain aux Raisins, and Chocolate Cornet.
🏠 A Completely Redesigned Bistro
- A more detailed building, with a slightly smaller ground floor for a more progressive start and a reception area that is now separate and fully enclosed.
- A larger upper floor, including the ability to use the space previously occupied by the stairs. The stairs have now been replaced by elevators.
- An expanded kitchen with a two-level serving counter to make service smoother.
- A redesigned basement with an office containing the PC, a resized storage area that can hold more supplies or bakery equipment, and restrooms with a little surprise for the most curious players.
- More customization options, including ceilings and two window styles, with more planned in the future.
- Your bistro's name now appears in illuminated letters on the front of the restaurant.
Early Access save migration: your existing bistro is adapted to the new layout. Any objects that had to be removed because of structural changes, including some wall plants or plants placed in the kitchen, are refunded. A popup will show the amount credited to your account the first time you load your save in 1.0.
🍽️ Menu du Jour
Optionally create one lunch menu and one dinner menu from the Menu app, based on expected customer profiles, events, their preferences, and dietary restrictions.
Print and distribute your menus in the street to temporarily increase customer traffic by up to 50%. The more menus you distribute, the more likely groups are to choose your Menu du Jour, granting them a satisfaction bonus as well as 25% faster preparation for the relevant dishes.

👨💼 Employees, Skills & Specialties
- A new selection of candidates every in-game day, each with their own skills, specialties, and personality traits.
- Skills improve naturally while employees work. Training can improve skills, teach new specialties, add positive traits, or remove certain negative traits.
- Some unlocked dishes now require a chef with the appropriate specialty and level before they can be offered. Specialties can have up to three levels depending on their category.
- Qualified waiters can now use food trolleys.
- New filters make it easier to find your employees and their assigned floors.

🍳 Kitchen Workstations & Minigames
Unlock and place kitchen workstations for the Sauce, Seafood, Pastry, Grill & Meat, and World Cuisine specialties. Each grants +5% preparation speed to matching dishes.
Complete short minigames to gain an additional +10%, bringing the workstation bonus to +15%. This bonus can be combined with the Menu du Jour's +25% to significantly improve kitchen productivity.
Entirely optional: simply benefit from the passive bonus, actively help your chefs, or choose not to install these workstations in your kitchen.

📈 Finances & Sales Reports
- The new Finances app lets you track upcoming bills, employee salaries, electricity, rent, and taxes, generally billed every 7 to 15 in-game days.
- A 5% profit tax is applied every seven in-game days to revenue minus expenses, not total revenue.
- Bills are automatically paid whenever possible. Unpaid bills trigger notifications and must be paid manually.
- Leaving bills unpaid for too long can have consequences: employees may stop coming to work, while unpaid rent can prevent the bistro from opening.
- Improved sales reports now show declared revenue, expenses, profits, and the percentage of sales generated by your lunch and dinner Menus du Jour.
These costs have been balanced to add more financial challenge without making money management overly restrictive.

💵 Dirty Money
At the end of the day, simply collect the cash from the registers on your three floors and choose how much you want to deposit in the bank or keep as dirty money.
Dirty money is stored in suitcases, which you can place in safes unlocked and ordered through the IPA app.
You can then launder this money through Big Joe, the guy who buys your old supplies, or by gambling at the casino. Casino winnings automatically become clean money deposited into your bank account.
This system is entirely optional. Using and laundering dirty money increases your Vigilance Level and can eventually attract a tax audit and fines, but you can progress normally without ever using it.
📦 Automatic Restocking
Enable stock automation in the Menu app to automatically restock low or missing ingredients through Smart Order.
Optionally set a minimum order amount, for example between €200 and €500 depending on the size of your bistro. The system checks your stock every second and sends the order when the basket reaches the selected threshold.
An additional option lets you ignore this threshold and order immediately as soon as an ingredient reaches zero stock.
⭐ Customer Reviews
Customers now leave feedback in the new Reviews app. Find out what they enjoyed, what went wrong, and where you can improve your restaurant.
🎙️ Multiplayer: Voice Chat, Text Chat & Guest Restrictions
- Added voice chat and text chat.
- Adjust voice-chat volume and microphone gain in Audio Settings, as well as each guest's volume from Esc > Multiplayer.
- Guest Restriction is enabled by default in public sessions. The host can enable or disable it individually for each guest at any time from Esc > Multiplayer.
- Restricted guests cannot use the PC, casino, or dirty money, spend money, or box up tables. All other activities remain available.
This makes it much safer to open public sessions, meet new players, and manage your bistro together.
🖥️ A New HUD
A cleaner, more polished HUD with a visual identity better suited to PBS.
It now displays the number of clean plates and glasses available in stock, as well as one, two, or three stars when you complete Tiers 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
🥐 Bakery Improvements
- Half-baguettes: Butter & Jam Toast now uses half a baguette, allowing four baguettes to make eight breakfasts.
- One-click plating: place the Bakery Tray containing the baked pastries on a table, then take another Bakery Tray and fill it with plates. Instead of clicking each pastry individually, interact directly with the tray containing the pastries to plate them all at once.
- The bakery has been moved to the upstairs kitchen. Existing bakery equipment boxes are automatically moved there, and you can keep your bakery in the kitchen or install it in the basement storage area.
- Chocolate Bread, Croissant, Apple Turnover, Chocolate Cornet, and Pain aux Raisins are now unlocked through the Expansion app. Only Butter & Jam Toast is unlocked by default in a new game.
💡 Quality of Life & Balance
- Order tracking: green checkmarks show which dishes and drinks have already been ordered by a player or employee, in addition to the existing waiter-assignment icon.
- Clearer table orders: a single display per table replaces the overlapping indicators above each customer, with dishes on one row and drinks on another.
- Table numbers: dish and drink indicators now show their table number, particularly useful for drinks without a physical order ticket.
- Customer traffic: fully rebalanced for a more progressive early game and to allow the restaurant to fill completely in the late game. Queue capacity and traffic now scale with satisfaction and Tier, while menu distribution, difficulty, and the customer-traffic setting can still be used to adjust it.
- Progression rebalance: XP is now awarded when customers pay and at the end of the day, reducing the previously excessive amount of Chef Hats.
- Unlock costs: reduced cash costs for some employees and furniture items to limit grinding between Tiers. Items still need to be purchased through IPA after being unlocked.
- Weighted Tier progression: unlocks now contribute to progression based on their Chef Hat and cash costs. Larger unlocks therefore advance the gauge more.
- Expansion progress: added a progression gauge to the Expansion app.
- Expansion order: the basement and ground-floor terrace now unlock in Tier 1, while the additional floor unlocks in Tier 2. Already unlocked elements are unaffected.
- Dish quality: increased the quality threshold between Exquisite and Decent, preventing a dish from dropping from Exquisite to Decent too quickly.
- Receptionist: if the group at reception cannot be seated because no suitable table is available, the receptionist can now seat compatible groups from the queue instead.
- The reception notification now remains visible as long as a customer is waiting at reception.
- Prologue and tutorials: a more complete but still lightweight prologue, with shorter bullet-point tutorials displayed in the upper-right corner without blocking gameplay.
- Missions and tutorials: the key used to collapse the mission panel is now M, while U remains reserved for tutorials, avoiding conflicts between the two actions.
- Crouching: added the ability to crouch with a rebindable key in Settings.
- Bakery tray access: when holding a Serving Tray or Bakery Tray, aiming at a tray on the bakery rack slides it toward you for easier access, especially on the lowest shelves.
- Bakery doors: when holding a Bakery Tray, clicking directly on the bakery oven or fridge door now closes it instead of placing the tray inside.
- Storing clean tableware: hold the interaction and select Store Plate or Store Glass to return clean tableware to its dispenser.
- Dirty glasses can no longer be placed in the bar preparation area.
- Food trolley: dishes can now be thrown away directly from food trolleys without first transferring them to a Serving Tray.
- Bartenders now add toppings to cocktails.
- Movable work areas: the breakfast preparation table, recipe book, and chefs' worktables can now be moved.
- Object placement: smoother movement while positioning objects, with new visual and sound effects when placing them.
- Storage units can be placed closer to walls and booth seating can be placed back-to-back.
- Indoor, terrace, and rooftop tables can now be placed freely across these different areas.
- Customization: the tablet now appears on the left side of the screen to keep a clear view of the object being customized.
- Tablet browsing: improved dish display, active dishes shown first in the Menu app, and the search bar automatically cleared when reopening the tablet.
- Big Joe: Big Joe is now available 24/7 and can also buy your old bakery equipment.
- Delivery area: the supply drop-off area used by delivery workers can now be moved.
- The hand-truck return area has been moved closer to the delivery truck.
- Sink camera: the viewpoint while washing dishes has been adjusted to a more natural height closer to the player's height.
- Controller floor selection: added a short delay when changing floors to prevent accidental rapid selections.
🛠️ Bug Fixes & Performance
- Fixed drink orders sometimes being ignored by employees, which could leave some customers without their drink at the end of the day.
- Fixed several employee and NPC pathfinding issues that could cause characters to get stuck.
- Fixed customers being able to walk behind the counter.
- Fixed an issue preventing bartenders from using coffee machines, beer dispensers, and similar equipment when player-prepared drinks were already present. They now use those drinks.
- Fixed cooking-progress synchronization for multiplayer guests.
- Fixed responsiveness issues in the dish queue displayed in the upper-right corner of the HUD.
- The multiplayer friends list now only shows friends with an active session, instead of everyone currently in-game.
- Fixed several controller responsiveness and interaction issues across different interfaces.
- Non-standard resolutions: fixed rendering and interaction issues that could occur with certain resolutions or aspect ratios.
- Fixed the placement grid appearing while carrying certain objects outdoors.
- Fixed incorrectly positioned glasses on some medieval tables.
- Fixed incorrectly positioned toppings on some cocktails.
- Fixed some tables placed upstairs being considered ground-floor tables.
- Fixed incorrectly positioned breakfast items in customers' hands.
- Fixed several carrying and interaction animations affecting waiters, customers, and delivery workers using trolleys.
- Fixed Bakery Plate rotation with the mouse wheel during placement.
- Fixed Bakery Trays being stackable on racks and appearing to float.
- Fixed an issue that could leave the player stuck at the sink while washing dishes.
- Fixed incorrect casino paylines.
- Fixed incorrect or missing amounts during Big Win events.
- Fixed casino game music not playing correctly.
- Fixed the prologue being activatable in Sandbox mode.
- Fixed being unable to trip pedestrians in the street with a trolley.
- Fixed satisfaction notifications sometimes appearing truncated above customers.
- Restored missing low-stock and out-of-stock icons on the tablet.
- Various localization fixes.
- Performance: added additional Levels of Detail to many objects to reduce their complexity at a distance.
