Hey all, Brennan here again. Just wanted to give you a quick update on the state of the URP graphics rewrite, since -- us being gamedev hobbyists who build this in our spare time -- we know it's taken some time. (If you haven't read the last posts: URP = Unity's Universal Rendering Pipeline. For historical reasons we were on the HD Render Pipeline, but URP has a better future and is superior for those of you on older hardware, so we decided to take the big "game content" productivity hit and migrate.)
All in all: things are progressing well! We have a fully playable game build and have been successfully running our closed playtest environment. Still lots of work to be done, though we'll probably err on the side of "not all the way done yet" for the release to get things out to you once the worst of the problems are solved.
In other news, I've swapped out the classic AI bot ("Terry" was his name, not that you ever asked...) with the MVP-02 Anguishire. This will mean that the AI bots in multiplayer games should be far more durable and thus useful in combat. That's a serverside change so has gone out immediately.
In case you're wondering what you're missing out on by not being part of the URP playtests, we're ironing out things like...
Broken materials!

Horribly miscalibrated lights!

Guns that refuse to be seen!

Terrain features that decided they're just glowing inside and need to share that with the rest of the world!

Now, on the plus side we are seeing the significant performance improvements that we're expecting out of rewriting the game to be on Unity's Universal Render Pipeline (plus a bunch of optimizations we're packaging in along the way), so you can look forward to that. Hopefully soon!
