Servant of the Lake has been one of our most ambitious titles to date, and we were over the (blood)moon 🌒 to see your positive reactions to the new gameplay mechanics, callbacks to Rusty Lake: Roots, a haunting new OST, and, most importantly, the plot twist ending! Now, one month later, it’s time to hop back into the carriage and recap what’s happened since we released Servant of the Lake.

We cannot talk about the last month without thanking our dedicated community. 🙏 Thanks to you, Servant of the Lake has been one of our most successful releases to date. At launch, the game peaked at over 28’000 concurrent players, with thousands more joining later (that’s a LOT of servants worldwide; the manor was spotless 🫧…). Soon after, we got an ✨ Overwhelmingly Positive ✨ review score on Steam. And just now we found out that Servant of the Lake is in the top 50 games released on Steam in August 2026! 🥳
That’s not to say we didn’t encounter a few bumpy rides at launch, with some players experiencing missing items or save/load bugs. We deeply appreciated your patience as we worked quickly to patch the error, ensuring everyone could continue their playthrough uninterrupted. 🪲🧹
Over 30’000 servants left us a note on www.servantofthelake.com! 📜 Your messages, theories, and comments were so heartwarming to read. Now our morning routine includes reading your notes over a “damn fine” cup of coffee. ☕ If you’re still unsure how to leave us a note, we recommend that you collect all achievements in Servant of the Lake. This will guide you on the right path and reveal a location that’s yet to be discovered. 🔭
We also received a tonne of outstanding fan art! Your talent always leaves us amazed. 🤩 Some of you even shared Servant of the Lake-themed art a few hours after the game was launched; talk about servants who work fast! Check out this amazing selection, and that’s only a small taste. The Vanderboom Gallery has new works on display 🎨 - but beware, there might be spoilers for those who are yet to complete the story of the game!
Compared to our previous releases, Servant of the Lake was more narrative-driven, and so many of you commented on how the characters (and Estate) felt alive. And how could we not mention Kate and Rustie in this newsletter? They seem to be the clear fan favourites. 🐱 In the upcoming weeks, with new #SotLDevlogs, we will shed more light on our talented voice cast and dive deeper into the design/puzzles that shaped Servant of the Lake. 🧩
