This patch focuses mainly on performance and optimisation, particularly addressing lag spikes that could occur when large numbers of projectiles are spawned, especially on lower-end PCs.
Optimisation
- The majority of projectiles throughout the game are now object pooled.
- Reduced unnecessary projectile and background particle counts.
- Added a save recovery safety check in case of save file corruption. As a last resort, the game can now attempt to recover the save file, although the current map will need to be abandoned.
- Added several Steam Deck-specific optimisations.
For Steam Deck, I recommend using the Linux build, as it currently provides slightly better framerate.
To enable it:
Steam → Rogue Blight → Properties → Compatibility → Enable "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" → Steam Linux Runtime 1.0
