Hey everyone! We’ve got a massive update to the Idle Mode that fleshes out the experience and addresses the concerns that have been raised about the mode. Idle Mode now has multiple new mechanics, faster progression, and unique endings.
One of the main things we wanted to address was how fast you are able to complete the mode, especially if you are playing actively. Both win conditions are now considerably faster for any playstyle but active playstyles are now rewarded greatly, resulting in completion times comparable to normal mode.
Your existing Idle save will still work in this mode, but the experience is so different that we would strongly recommend wiping the save and starting fresh.
Idle Mode Additions
Added a boss fight for the first ending.
Added a reward for the boss fight that allows the player to receive shards without having to prestige.
Added a unique “true ending” that concludes in a credits sequence.
Added Coffee that now occasionally spawns and grants the player and Robo-bats boosts.
Added 2 upgrades for Coffee.
Added the Auto Attack upgrade. Now players who want to actively play no longer have to manually click.
Added a Bottle Damage upgrade that increases the damage of corks and explosions.
Added the Nuke upgrade. This is an activatable ability with a cooldown that deals massive damage to all bottles on screen.
Added the Antimatter Normal bottle variant and its 2 corresponding upgrades. These go where the Cheapest button was, so that button has been moved to the Robo-bat tab.
Idle Mode Improvements
Overhauled progression. Various upgrades have been made cheaper. Various upgrades give more upgrade per purchase. Idle Mode is quicker across the board.
Removed the need to unlock bottle types in Normal mode. All of Idle is playable from the start.
Added upgrade caps to all upgrades that were previously missing caps.
Moved the Prestige info to always be present, and moved the skill tree info panel to be a popup like it is in Normal Mode.
Added a progress bar to Shards so you have a quick reference on your progress toward the next Shard.
Bug Fixes
Fixed some broken controller interactions in Idle Mode.
Fixed a bug causing Normal Mode’s Boss to not appear damaged as it loses health.
What’s Next?
We will continue to monitor your feedback, especially on all of these new changes, and make changes as necessary. We want Smashing Bottles to be as enjoyable of an experience as it can be.
We have some improvements in mind to further improve the post-game prestige tree in Normal mode. So expect to see that update in the coming weeks.
