Greetings to everyone from the shores of Blackreef,
After more than a year of development, Sunken Engine is finally releasing in its full version. Dozens of content updates, hundreds of bug fixes, hundreds of comments and feedback…
When we first came up with the idea for Sunken Engine, we never imagined that the game would reach such a large audience. But when we saw the interest people showed in the game on the very first day we opened the Steam store page, we realized just how much work we had ahead of us. With the demo, we reached nearly 30,000 wishlists, and by the time we launched into Early Access, that number had grown to nearly 50,000. We worked incredibly hard and began our very first Early Access journey as Two Nomads Studio.
So many bugs, so many wrong decisions, so much exhaustion… But throughout all of it, there were the amazing comments, supportive messages, and hilarious videos people made while playing Sunken Engine that kept us motivated. All of these and so much more gave us the strength to keep going.
In short, after a challenging year, we are finally bringing our story to an end. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us through Discord and Steam, helped us find bugs, patiently waited while we worked on fixing them, and waited so patiently for the full release. We may be a three-person team at Two Nomads Studio, but we know that the Sunken Engine team is much, much bigger with all of you.
Now that we've gotten the emotional part out of the way, let's take a look at what has changed since the very first day of Early Access and what the full release brings.
Major Update – New Content & Features
All story acts have been completed, and the ending of the story has been added to the game.
Intermission cinematics have been added and updated.
New ships, characters, and customers have been added.
New cursed ships, horror sequences, and cursed locations have been added.
New cosmetic items have been added to the shop, increasing the overall variety.
New locations have been added:
Carnival Area
Forest
City Square
Secret Locations
And more
UI and model structures have been redesigned and reorganized.
New emergency ships have been added.
Gülcemal Ship
The Gülcemal Ship has been added to the game.
This section plays an important role in the progression of the story and introduces a unique puzzle mechanic unlike anything else in the game.
Players can arrange and place rooms themselves as they explore the mysterious ship.
Players will uncover new secrets about the story while trying to find their way through the ship.
Each time the player sleeps, the ship's rooms disappear and are rearranged.
Players who do not want to complete this section themselves can pay a certain fee to the smuggler character on the ship to skip it.
Fax System
The fax system has been completely reworked and updated.
Underwater
An underwater area has been added to the game.
Some ships now feature underwater tasks that require players to have the appropriate license.
With the underwater update, the fishing system has also been reworked to provide a more open and flexible experience.
The variety of fish has been increased.
Fish availability now changes depending on the region and weather conditions.
Fishing rod upgrades have been added.
New fishing-related locations have been introduced.
New Ship Jobs
New types of ship jobs have been added to provide more variety to the gameplay.
New tasks include:
Steering wheel repairs
Throttle repairs
And other new repair and maintenance tasks
These new jobs do not require any additional licenses.
Necronomicon Magic
A new magic system has been added to the game.
Players can now use the Necronomicon to cast four different spells that provide various gameplay benefits:
Storm Calling – Summons a storm to help with fishing.
Cursed Ship Summoning – Summons a cursed ship.
Helping Hands – Automatically handles dirt and trash-related tasks.
Market Assistant – Automatically manages sales and interacts with customers in your shop.
Spells remain active until the player goes to sleep.
Players can cast these spells using scrolls found in cursed locations.
Alternatively, once the altar in the basement has been repaired, players can craft their own spells there as long as they have the required materials.
General Improvements
Various optimization improvements have been implemented across the game.
Gamepad UI interactions and navigation have been improved.
Various UI, gameplay, and system improvements have been made throughout the game.
We added all of this to the game within just one year. Now, with the full release, the story is complete and Sunken Engine is finally launching as a fully realized game. So, what comes next for Sunken Engine?

We will consider whether a DLC pack might be released in the future. We have some ideas in mind, and we'll continue evaluating them.
