Flair Enough: Update 1.8.0
[p align="start"]Keep your flair. Speak your language.Features
[p align="start"]We heard you on flair. In 1.7 we turned it into a slot machine, and a lot of you told us you'd rather just keep the flair you earned. Fair enough! Flair is back to the way it was, and it's yours for good. This update also cracks open modding for SWAPMEAT. We want you to be able to make your own mods and shape the game the way you want to play it, and Steam Workshop support matters to us. We're starting small, with a quality-of-life request from the community: language packs you can make and share on the Workshop.Flair, Yours to Keep
[p align="start"]Flair goes back to the rank-based system from before 1.7. Unlock a rank at the Flair Terminal and it stays unlocked. No slot machine, no stash to manage. Nothing gets used up when you land on a planet. We tried the consumable version because we wanted flair to feel like more of a choice each run, but you told us it mostly felt like losing something you'd worked for. Point taken. Thank you for the feedback, and for your patience while we walked it back.Flair ranks unlock at the Flair Terminal and are permanent again.
The Bolt Burger loadout screen from 1.7 stays. You still pick your flair there before a run, and each tile now shows the rank you own.
If you played during 1.7, every flair is unlocked at max rank on your save. Enjoy!
Steam Workshop: SWAPMEAT in Your Language
[p align="start"]Back in June, a few of you asked on the Steam forums for languages we don't ship. We thought that was a good idea, and it turned out to be a good place to start on something bigger: modding for SWAPMEAT. SWAPMEAT is getting a Steam Workshop, and the first thing you'll be able to share there is a language. When it goes live we'll post tutorials and a sample project to get you started.[p align="start"]When someone shares a language pack, subscribe to it, start the game, and it shows up under Options > Language with a \[MOD] tag next to its name. Our own five languages stay exactly as they are, and we keep updating them every release. Community packs sit alongside them. If a pack only translates part of the game, the rest falls back to the official text, then to English.[p align="start"]Languages are where we're starting because you asked for them and they were the fastest thing to open up. We're going to keep pushing on modding from here. Tell us on Discord or the Steam forums what kinds of mods you'd like to make or see. That's how we'll decide what to build creator support for next.Gameplay
Revert consumable flair back to the persistent rank-based model. Thank you to @everyone in the community for the feedback!
Community language packs show up under Options > Language with a \[MOD] tag and never replace the official languages.
Fixed meat parts keeping a white damage flash through pooled reuse (thanks for the report @soulreaper!)
Fixed inverted material tiers on perk track ranks III and IV (thanks for the report @soulreaper!)
Balance
Glizzy Gulp Mystery Meat was way too much. Attack speed is now +150% (was +500%) and damage is 2x (was 5x). The extra jumps, swim speed, air speed and magazine size are gone. It keeps infinite ammo, double move speed and the spread recovery bonus.
Belly Grinder's wrench heals 25% of the target's max HP instead of a flat 50, so it actually matters on big targets.
Art
Grant Bulging Brain Head cosmetic to all players. Check your Meat Locker!
UI/UX
Stop a stuck gamepad outvoting the one the player is holding (thanks for the report @Musaab!)
Remove the Options debug tab, which only really contained one item. Move the demo account reset to General tab and include debug build info in the footer of all options screens.
Bug Fixes
Fixed item container drops sinking to the bottom of water (thanks for the report @soulreaper!)
