Plans For The Future - 1.7!
We're going to get cracking with update 1.7! We believe 1.6 really helps Trash Goblin turn a corner in terms of quality of life features and nasty bugs getting squashed, but there are still larger items on our (and your) list that we'd like to address, plus of course new features to add because there's a whole fantasy world out there to take inspiration from! Will 1.7 come out this year? We hope so, but we won't announce a date until we're certain!
Plans For The Future - More DLC
We've also got another paid DLC planned, and as soon as we can share something concrete about it we will. We saw the response to The Artist Of Brimhaven, and are going to make this new DLC something that can be enjoyed by all players, no matter how far they are into their playtime with Trash Goblin! It will also be cute, and have a real role helping in the moment to moment play of the game as it stands right now. Will this come out in 2026? Who can say... other than we always try to release a chunky free game update whenever we put out a paid bit of content, so 1.7 and the DLC will likely arrive at the same time.
Plans For The Future - 2027
Looking into next year - oh my god 2027 is like right there - we're expecting updates to arrive in a slightly new cadence. In "Trash Goblin Year 3" we want to take the pressure off the team a little bit. We are now working on the followup (omg you can peek at it here), but we really want to keep updating and improving Trash Goblin in exciting and meaningful ways. It's just that it makes sense to do that a little more slowly. We're not ready to give a roadmap, but we're thinking that a meaningful update every 3 months or so feels nice, plus more DLC/Expansions as we go. We've still got lots we can do to improve the game, you're still finding new bugs and suggesting cool ways to make it even more fun to be a little goblin running a messy trinket shop, and frankly we don't want to stop making it because we love it.
The 1.6 Update!
So, onto the meat of the update, the fixes! It's been amazing working with our community and listening to your suggestions/gripes/bug reports to help us focus this update on all the nastiest bugs and most annoying bits of the game. We think this might be our biggest update ever, in terms of things added, fixed, tweaked or changed - and while there is one brand new feature - Trinket Finder - it is exciting to think we can still do more for Trash Goblin and all the players out there.
Bug Fixes and Other Updates
⭐ = you goblins either requested this, or helped us diagnose the issue
⭐We've added a Trinket Finder mode to the game to help you retrieve trinkets that have fallen down the back of your bed, or become inaccessible behind the Soak Tub or Customer bell. To access it, click the "search" icon in the top left of the screen and then select a Trinket's icon to grab it. It's also just super handy to find things in busy areas, or when you're not sure what is where in your shop.
⭐Customers were seemingly refusing the correct trinket. Well now they only look at the last item you placed on the sales mat - it no longer matters if other trinkets are in contact with it, which was causing the issue.
⭐Customers will now request a different trinket from your shop if the one they wanted was sold to the previous customer.
Trinkets will no longer be refused by NPCs after they have fallen off the sales mat and hit the kill volume several times.
⭐We've fixed an issue where the asynchronous loading of child pieces within upcycled trinkets was causing NPCs to not recognise that your creation was exactly what they asked for!
⭐Ultrawidescreen Support! It's not perfect, but we've locked the game to resolutions with 16:9 / 16:10 aspect ratios so the UI will no longer overflow the game window.
⭐We've added letterboxing to the game so that it can be run at fullscreen on widescreen and ultra wide monitors without causing issues.
⭐It is now possible to play the game with a keyboard and mouse (as well as a gamepad) on the Steam Deck when connected to a dock. The game will still use full gamepad support when playing in hand-held mode. If you experience any issues after these changes, please ensure you have your Controller Settings set to Official Layout for Trash Goblin - Gamepad
We've fixed an issue that prevented the receipt from closing. We've also fixed an issue that caused it to reappear when ending the day.
You will no longer see a receipt pop up after dismissing a customer without completing a sale.
We've reworked our save system to better prevent save files from becoming corrupted.
Should you currently have a corrupted save then the game will no longer prevent you from loading one of your other non-corrupted saves (i.e. the Continue button will no longer go missing when a save is corrupted).
If all of your current save files have become corrupted - for example, due to a powercut - then you will now see a message explaining that you will need to start over.
⭐The RNG for Trinket discovery was causing some achievement hunters to lose the will to live, so we've updated the way the sack prioritises Trinkets.
⭐The sack now has a greater chance of spawning Trinkets that are "undiscovered" or "discovered but not cleaned" in the Trinketpedia making the Seen It All achievement less of a slog.
⭐Your gold total will no longer be added to your daily sales total on the End of Day screen on the first day after reloading a save (and as a result it's no longer possible to trigger the Maker's Fortune achievement without earning it legitimately).
⭐More quest-related achievements have been added to our fallback system so that if you earn an achievement when connection to the client has dropped, you will get it the next time you load the game.
⭐Trinkets will no longer be deleted when opening the Trinketpedia with hotkeys and then toggling to the Stash whilst holding a trinket.
⭐Donoval - and the Spirit of Delivery - visiting between their travels will no longer increase the chance of bedpans appearing in your sack.
⭐We've fixed an issue that would see too many doll parts added to the mercy timer queue when named NPCs requested one.
Trinkets will no longer be added back onto the mercy timer queue if they are upcycled as child trinkets (in other words, you'll no longer be flooded with additional doll limbs after assembling a doll for a quest).
⭐Returning to the title screen will no longer see the removal of quest trinkets from the sack's mercy timer!
Requested trinkets that are part of lists (e.g. handles, lids, crowns, etc) are now correctly added to the mercy timer queue.
Double clicking the Return To Shop button when customers are still present will no longer cause the camera to break on return to the shop.
⭐Trinkets will now be marked as sold in the Trinketpedia when giving them to Donoval and the Spirit of Delivery to sell on your behalf.
⭐With a gamepad: Trinkets will no longer be deleted when holding them over the Stash and opening it.
⭐With a gamepad: Progression in the tutorial is no longer blocked when picking up the coin bag and opening the Stash with the prompt instead of dragging it into the Stash.
⭐With a gamepad: You'll no longer lose control of the cursor after selecting Done on the in-game Credits screen.
The Done button can now be selected on the Credits screen in resolutions with 16:10 aspect ratios.
⭐We've made improvements to the cursor movement, it's now faster and overall a more user friendly experience!
⭐ You can now alter Controller Speed through a slider in the Options menu.
⭐Trinkets can now be rotated in 20 degree increments rather than 45 degrees.
⭐The Z and X keys can now be used for navigation around the shop as an alternative to the arrow keys.
It is no longer possible to open Expansion and Customisation Modes with hotkeys or a gamepad during the Recolouring mini-game.
⭐Mycelle will no longer skip a bunch of dialogue when purchasing the 2nd Delver Licence if you purchased the 1st at your shop rather than at Chasmside.
⭐We've removed some rogue quotation marks on one of Raniel's quests.
⭐The Quest Tracker now gives more explicit information about how to acquire the Display Mat (you need to buy the Customer Desk upgrades first).
⭐The Quest Tracker will now indicate when you need to travel to a District to buy a Licence in order for the main narrative to be progressed.
⭐You will now see information about what a Tool or Upgrade does even if you don't have the money to buy it.
⭐Donoval's Hugging Doll quest now states that a Doll Body is required as well as 4 limbs.
We've tweaked some NPC positions so they are less likely to be covered up by the dialogue box when speaking to them.
The Eye notification icon will no longer lead you astray during the tutorial when Aimon leaves to run an errand for the second time.
⭐Quitting the game during the middle of Aunty's Customisation tutorial will no longer see you permanently locked out of Customisation Mode.
Clicking on Hullifer CXC again during the Fetching Fungi tutorial will no longer break the flow of the quest and cause duplicated dialogue options.
It's now clearer that NPCs who ask for multiple trinkets need to assess each one individually, rather than all at once.
The Forest Teacup has been removed from the list of accepted teacups for Lyric's quest as it already has an in-built handle and she wants a unique one.
⭐The Swirly Handle has been added to the 'handles' list, and Morph's Hammer Cap has been added to the 'gems' list (it is an emerald after all!)
⭐The Quest Tracker now accurately shows which non-wooden mask trinkets Akilah will accept on his Wooden Mask rather than showing every trinket in game!
⭐The Hook Clip is now accepted as a valid trinket for Silver's Orrery quest and Akilah's Wooden Mask quest, and the Eldritch Idol Head has been removed from those quests since it is incompatible.
⭐We've moved the position of the customer bell slightly which should prevent small trinkets getting stuck behind it.
We've adjusted the kill volume behind the bedpipe so that if a trinket does fall behind the shelves, it will hit the kill box immediately and go straight back into your Stash without having to reload the game first.
Upcycled trinket names once again wrap and will not overflow the game window.
The Recolouring UI will now indicate when your paint levels go above 99.
The camera will no longer twist to the side when zooming into NPCs at districts.
We've updated the orientation of loop socket connections for charm type trinkets to make them connect and rotate on their axis in a more intuitive way.
⭐The Spirit Crown Insignia now has connection points for gems.
⭐By popular request, the Frog Plushie and its legs are now interchangeable with other Doll parts. There have been nightmare inducing results, but hey, you asked for it!
⭐The connection point on the Spirit Bell Charm has been adjusted so it fits better. Much more snug!
⭐The Drum Tassel, Horn and Hook Hand now have attachments for charms.
The Viola Bow has had one of its loop connections removed.
We've widened the Trinket Discovered message during the chipping mini-game so that longer trinket names in Hungarian and German are no longer cut off onto the next line.
Customer names will now fit better on the Quest Tracker when using the maximum font size in Thai.
Trinket names also fit better on the Trinketpedia in Thai
A handful of additional tweaks have been implemented to the Hungarian, Japanese and Traditional Chinese localisations.
We've also updated the digital artbook to include work from The Artist of Brimhaven DLC!
