Hey everyone!
We’ve got some very cool news to share as today we’ve launched the ‘Family Fun’ update for Adorable Adventures! As you might guess from the title, this update introduces lots of exciting new content focused on Boris’ brothers and sisters including the ability to interact and customise each sibling, improved sibling behaviour and animations, and a totally new hide & seek mini-game to enjoy!
Interact with Boris’ siblings
You can now interact with Boris’ family in several ways. First press the ‘oink’ button to get the group's attention and then walk up to the individual sibling you want to interact with. If Boris is holding an item, he can give this item to his brother or sister. You can also retrieve held items in the same way, which is super helpful when you’re trying to gather several items for a specific task! For extra cuteness we’ve also added the option to play.
Decorations for everyone
Boris’ brothers and sisters can now be individually customised with any decoration that he has unlocked during his adventures. Navigate to the entry for the decoration in the notebook and you’ll now find options to assign to individual siblings.
Bigger personalities
Gary, Mimi, Belle, Justine, Olivier, and Rock all have very different personalities and so we’ve added unique animations and reactions for each sibling to really showcase their individuality! On top of this, we’ve polished the family’s follow behaviour to reflect these changes. Finally, siblings will now join in with certain activities such as scent identification, mudbathing, and showering.
New hide & seek mini-game
After finishing the main quest Boris can now ask his mother if it’s okay to play a game of hide and seek with his brothers and sisters. When the mini-game starts the siblings will each be assigned a random scent and will hide themselves somewhere in the park, with Boris needing to follow each scent in order to track them down. But it’s not quite that simple! As the scents are randomly assigned they could also include ones that have yet to be fully identified, and if a sibling sees Boris they’ll run away which means he’ll have to chase them down and catch them! Once you find each sibling you’ll be rewarded with a photograph showing the moment you found them displayed on board next to Max’s cabin.
Explore inside Max’s cabin
The door to Max’s cabin is now open which means that Boris can explore inside! There are all sorts of interesting things to look at including three curious displays on the wall. What could they mean? Could this be another mystery to solve?
On top of all this new content we’ve also added a bunch of extra visual polish, quality of life improvements, and various small bugfixes. See below for full details 🐽🐗
Additional visual polish
Fish have been added to the river.
Luminescent mushrooms found in caves light up when the panellus stipticus or luminescent hat are equipped.
Hats now have physics.
Improved VFX for scent identification.
Improved VFX for breaking pots and digging.
New decoration
The acorn now has a wearable hat associated with it.
Quality of life improvements
A tips page has been added to the notebook.
Changed order of continue and new game in main menu.
By default an FPS limit is now turned on when beginning the game for the first time.
Added 3rd launch option on Steam for players with two graphics cards.
Steamdeck verification and improvements
Adorable Adventures is now Steamdeck verified!
Steamdeck text sizes have been made bigger and scroll boxes have been added where needed.
Switching to and from external controller is now properly detected on Steamdeck.
Steamdeck graphic menu default selection is now set.
Audio and language changes
Russian voiceover has been added for Max.
Various localization fixes for Indonesian and Vietnamese.
Adjusted text size for various languages to avoid overflow in graphic options menu.
Bugfixes
If watering can is not in the mouth/lost somewhere, it will now respawn at its original spot after continuing a save
The luminescent mushroom hat works as validation for quests, as well as siblings wearing or carrying it.
Fixed issue where un-ignoring wild chives would trigger incorrect dialogue when identifying another wild chives scent.
Succulents can now be planted in the garden.
Mother is placed correctly after completing the game (for older saves).
Fixed issue where Justine’s garden was not cleared after cinematic.
