Today I'm showing you a type of vehicle rarely seen in video games, probably because it's a hybrid between a powerful artillery piece and a nimble infantry mortar.
Meet the "Bulldog"!
This vehicle was originally a troop transport, but was later modified to carry and deploy a large 120mm mortar.
As you can see, the Bulldog must absolutely not get close to the front, or it would be massacred, as it has no short-range defense weapons.
The goal of this big guy is to hit the enemy from medium range, one shot after another, until its own rounds (or its enemies) are exhausted.
Being a cross between heavy and light artillery, the Bulldog has advantages and disadvantages, like any vehicle.
It doesn't have the range or firepower of heavy artillery, BUT its rounds spend less time in the air, so they're less affected by enemy movement. It also has tracks, so it can move to increasingly more suitable firing positions, as well as escape from the enemy... if the enemy isn't particularly fast.
On the other hand, it's not as cheap and portable as an 81mm infantry mortar, BUT its 120mm rounds are much more powerful, it can carry different types of warheads, and, finally, this vehicle has light armor, which soldiers don't have.
What warheads could this vehicle's weapon have?
Definitely explosive ones, perhaps even nerve gas ones, but I'm waiting for your suggestions before giving a final assessment.
Another advantage I haven't told you is that the Bulldog is an amphibious vehicle!
What does that mean?
It means that, like all other units, it can cross water, but, unlike them, it can fire its weapon while doing so, and its cruising speed will be higher than if it weren't an amphibious vehicle.
Surely some of you might be thinking, "Wow, I can bomb enemies from the sea, making me practically unstoppable!"... umm... no.
Non-amphibious land enemies won't be able to attack you, but you'll be easy prey for flying, aquatic, and especially underwater enemies.
In this game, enemies will be in every type of environment! The only way to stay safe is to kill them, so grab something big and incapacitate them!
