Hey everyone, the HellSlave II demo just got an update. Thanks for trying it and for all the feedback, here's what changed:
QOL
Quick save with F5.
Reduced collision size around enemy packs that are 10 or more levels below you, to make travelling through lower-level zones less tedious.
The map and quest objectives are showing the place to investigate more precisely, resulting in a smoother experience and less feeling of being lost.
Added a "fast+" mode in options, increasing the move and combat speed even more.
Fixed an issue where the stroboscopic effect wasn’t properly disabled when the strong light effects setting was turned off.
Pressing Escape does skip the discussion, but several people missed it. As it wasn't obvious, there is now a visual effect to indicate it.
The visual effect when you changed into a special mode like "Trance" or "Bestial Possession" was lowered because it was affecting the readability of the game too much. It's smoother now.
Completed quests are now visible in the quest log.
Added an option to auto-skip the "are you sure you want to quit" panel when leaving the loot page with loot still on it.
You can also set the auto-skip to make an exception for certain rarities, like uniques, rares, runes, or scrolls. That way you won't accidentally close the loot menu and lose something precious.
You can now sort items in your inventory by type, rarity, and level.
You can now enable auto-sorting for any type, so your inventory always sorts itself the way you picked.
Added a preview of each class's skills when choosing your class.
Added the same preview for each demon.
Added a "sell everything" button.
Added a "loot everything" button.
Added visual cues on items so you can quickly tell if something is an upgrade over what you have equipped.
Added a volume setting for combat SFX.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the Annihilation tooltip not displaying properly.
Fixed Satan's ability that grants a free power after the Harog-Imkol, which could add cooldown to your power if the random power played was also in your spell bar.
The combat music wasn't lowering with the music volume setting.
The game wasn't remembering the "windowed mode" setting.
The timer bar tooltip now takes into account the fatigue reduction from "Spirit of the Ghostly Guul".
"Hamstring" was showing fatigue on the time bar even though it doesn't apply any.
"Annihilation" was reducing armor forever instead of only 30 seconds, and the effect wasn't working properly. Fixed.
Polish and Russian fonts weren't displaying properly on the location name and purgatory level panels.
Reflected damage was confusing because it also showed the total bleed and poison added to the attacking enemy. The "reflected damage" text on enemies now only shows the direct damage reflected (physical, magical, fire, thunder, ice).
Several improvements and fixes to power tooltips.
You could get blocked between the wall and the big chest in the Forbidden Sanctuary.
"Jugular Drain" wasn't working properly, adding blood to the hero instead of the enemy.
"Deadly Inertia" passive wasn't triggering when you killed an enemy with bleeding or poison.
"Fatal Frenzy" passive wasn't working properly.
You could have two Satanic shields active at the same time.
Toned down the flash of light when you get hit while having shield points, to avoid discomfort for people with sensitive eyes.
Fixed the "Time Leap" skill, where enemy attacks weren't being counted correctly if they weren't melee attacks.
Fixed the "Time Leap" passive (not the skill), which wasn't applying its effect to the enemy on the far right.
The "cannot be blocked, dodged, missed or parried" bonus on the Harog Imkol option for Asmodeus wasn't working as expected. It's now fixed.
"Erratic Phenomenon", the first bonus on Harog Imkol for Satan, that was triggering a random spell after your Harog Imkol attack, wasn't for "free" as expected in some specific situations. This is now fixed.
The Harog Imkol Belzebub bonus that was giving +80% bonus damage if you killed an enemy had a false tooltip showing wrong data. Fixed.
Storm Strike was indicating 2x damage but was dealing only 1.5x. It's now corrected. Also, the tooltip was displaying the damage as "thunder damage", while it wasn't precise enough: the first attack is dealing physical damage, only the thunder chain effect is dealing thunder damage.
The chest in Saalshe Valley was looting level 1 drops by error.
"Chain of Lightning Bolts" and the thunder chain of Storm Strike were dealing unfair damage as if they went through a thunder resisting enemy, the damage was diminished because of it. It now applies the resistance correctly but does not reduce the next damage dealt.
"Frenetic Incantation" damage bonus wasn't working on some spells.
The indication about the "next level" to get an active point was showing the wrong level (4-9-14-19-24-etc.) while it was one level higher (5-10-15-20-25-etc.).
Sometimes the display of mission icons wasn't working properly and icons were out of the screen.
The Akhlate sword combat asset wasn't displayed.
Passive power "Soul Decay" wasn't working properly.
"Infernal Incantation" skill wasn't properly resetting at the end of a fight.
The "purified" icon on the map was shown in gold in the tutorial while it is green in-game. It was an old placeholder.
Fixed a freeze caused by the IME (language-switching software). It's now disabled so it won't lock up the game.
Balance
Reduced the base dodge of enemies from 5% to 3%.
Killing an enemy that is more than one level above you now gives 1 additional XP point. This helps players who progress fast avoid getting stuck underleveled and unable to equip the loot they find, without having to farm XP.
The malus of chance to hit for each level difference was reduced from 8 per level to 4 per level. You should miss less.
Enemies can no longer have max resistances to any type. The resistance cap is 50% (easy mode), 60% (normal mode), or 70% (hard mode).
The normal mode is now 15% easier and the hard mode is now 15% harder than they used to be, suiting more to the expected difficulty gap of the game. Another harder mode will be implemented soon.
Melee fighters now start with 120 health points instead of 100, addressing the early level weakness of melee classes.
The parry, dodge and block level has been more fairly balanced on enemies.
