Dear players,
We’re excited and proud to share this blog with you, putting forward the different accessibility features implemented in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
A majority of features implemented in Resonance have been passed along from A Plague Tale: Requiem, including Controls, UI, Background and Subtitle adjustments. But, we’ve extended the list of features to add several necessary improvements such as a Story Mode Difficulty, a High Contrast mode, Colorblindness Options, various Camera Options and a clarified/centralized Accessibility Options Menu.
Both Focus and Asobo firmly believe that accessibility is crucial when making a video game. We truly hope these features will allow all players to enjoy Resonance and get the full experience.
Before we begin, we’d like to thank Cap Game and Game Accessibility Hub, who have greatly helped us throughout the process.
Let’s take a look at the accessibility features of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy!

Story Mode Difficulty 🗡️
At any time during the game, we allow you to select between several levels of difficulty influencing the combat system. The Narrative mode focuses on exploration and story with an auto-parry and dodge system.
The Nightmare mode provides an ultimate challenge with enemies at the peak of aggressiveness and maximum resistance. The Normal mode offers the best balance between exploration and challenge.
The difficulty is really up to you! Check all the available difficulties below 👇

Centralized Accessibility Options Menu 🖱️
Access all accessibility features in one dedicated tab, called “Accessibility”. Again, our goal was to prevent you from browsing through too many tabs, looking for audio, camera, or more detailed accessibility features.
In the Accessibility tab, you will find all features, targeting motricity issues and vision disorders or impairments. Gameplay adjustments can be toggled such as the automation of the grappling hook.
Here’s the complete overview of the Accessibility Tab of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, before we get more in-depth with each feature.
High Contrast mode 🌓
The High Contrast Mode highlights objects and characters that can be interacted with. This mode was tailored for people with visual impairments or physiological insufficiencies.
High Contrast might not help with colorblindness, another mode was thought specifically for this vision disorder.
Here’s how High Contrast looks in-game:

Colorblindness Options 🎨
We’re especially happy with how our colorblindness accessibility features have worked out. We’ve chosen to allow you to navigate within the photomode menu and operate color changes in real-time. The real-time preview of your selected changes avoid cumbersome menuing and allow for efficient and quick adjustments.
Adapt the colors to your preferences with a possibility to differentiate your choices between puzzles and exploration, and combat. Some pre-sets are available – for Protanopia, Tritanopia, or Deuteranopia – but customization is also possible, and highly recommended to make sure you pick the set of colors you feel most comfortable with.
These custom colors can be applied to Sophia’s sphere’s lights, the Combat UI, your Health bar, Combat FX, global HUD as well as diegetic puzzles.
But you can also customize the subtitles to your liking. Change the color of the text, background, shadow, character names’ color, etc.
The picture on the left shows the sphere’s lights with a colorblindness filter, compared to the picture on the right, with no filter:
