Hi everyone. Things got even worse.
Kim abused me and stole all of the project's money. She just lied about everything. She was doing drugs and cheating on me with Grindr dates and going out with my bank card making thousand dollar ATM withdrawals. She bottomed out all of my accounts including Patreon, PayPal, anywhere that there was money, she took it. The only money she didn't take was my trading portfolio, because she tried to get into trading herself. The total bill was 77,000$, plus ~9000$ that are being held by Valve that they won't pay me.
I know this happens quite a lot in our society, but I was expecting more from people in our community. I can't expose her because #metoo is cringe now, according to the general public, so she's happily preying on other trans women right now. Yay! I shouldn't be saying this because it could be described as defamation in court. That's because the law protects narcissists and domestic abusers. Fuck this planet.
I've been trying to make it work by trading and working side jobs to fund finishing the game anyways, but more things happened while I wasn't paying attention.
The main thing is that Valve is refusing to let me take legal control of the project. They told us today, on the limit payment date, after making a payment to Kim, that the transfer request was denied with no motive. I still have no ID because the police won't let me out for long enough to apply for the god damn paperwork and Valve is just playing dumb and saying Kim owns the game, and has been making regular payments to her since last year. I have not collected a single penny from sales. All sales have gone to my domestic abuser. She could at any point make a ticket on Steam Support and take full control of the project, if she had a bad day and wanted money. It wouldn't be the first time. Before she was using 2-factor authentication with her phone to lock me out and use it as a bargaining chip to manipulate me and get things from me.
Taxes are also coming after me for the money she took from sales, funnily. Makes absolutely no sense, but apparently I have that to contend with too. Also, the update was postponed because I was re-arrested last month and was in prison for 25 days. I had called the police to press charges on Kim for the fraud, death threats and sexual abuse, but they told me it was a civil matter, then my PO used the incident as justification to take Kim's side and send me back to prison. We live in a disgusting society.
I'm sorry everyone. I tried very hard to make it work but there are dozens of people conspiring to make it impossible. The institutions are actively enabling the abuse that I lived. The police is protecting Kim. My own parole officer is both sidesing and saying that I'm annoying and controversial so it justifies the psychological and sexual abuse that I suffered. Valve is literally just putting on clown makeup and saying the game isn't my IP, and making tens of thousands in payments to my abuser.
I can't fix it, I have no power, I don't even have rights in this society. I have to tell the police if I want to have sex with someone now, because they're saying I'm co-dependent since I "let Kim abuse me". I'm giving up. I will not work on this game anymore unless I am entitled again to legal ownership and proceeds from sales, this is ridiculous. Goodbye everyone.

Going to answer a few things I know people will speculate and argue about:
"Why don't you go to court if this really happened" - I am. I've been trying to solve this problem since March, when I got out and I discovered what she was doing. I delayed posting this message because I knew everyone would be angry and I'm exhausted. Anyways, I have proof, I will win the civil case, there's no anxiety there. That's not the point. Winning the civil case achieves nothing. Settlements have to be paid by the person. If they have no money you get nothing. Wages have to be garnished from declared income. If they sell drugs or prostitute you won't get a penny. You can't seize assets under a certain value because the government considers the person needs them to live. Basically, if you're a fucking loser and you own nothing, what are the courts going to do? Only criminal prosecution can apply real consequences and so far the police has been giving me the run-around under the pretext that it's a domestic dispute.
Why am I talking about this? People need to know that shit like this happens. It's like this because of indifference and stupidity. Look it up. Go fix it. Laws can be changed and so can Valve's behaviour.
I didn't go to prison for a sex or DV case. I beat up a person that was extorting and abusing my ex. I went to jail for beating up a criminal that was released 5 times for weapons possession and criminal threats. In various states of legal limbo since 2020 as a result.
The reason why it appeared for so long that Kim was being helpful is because I kept the abuse secret. Please google it if this surprises you. I tried to give her a chance and I tolerated her abusive behaviour hoping I could help her become more stable and support her through change and becoming a better person. This is what happens when narcissists prey on people with empathy and as such I did nothing wrong, fuck anyone who says that, especially my PO.
I will resume development if Valve stops being a joke about this, but so far they've aggressively refused to engage and are telling us to litigate in civil court, just like the police. You can't litigate in civil court against criminals, though. Kim is protected from harm by the police and the only thing the courts can do is send her angry letters that she can just pretend she isn't receiving. She already declared bankruptcy to forgive hundreds of thousands in debt and is currently in a debt consolidation for 20 thousand or something. There's no way to stop people from doing this kind of fraud because there are no physical limits imposed by the law if you don't make payments. They can garnish but only from an employer based in Canada. There's no way for me to get the money from the game, and by the time we would litigate, it will be gone. The entire system was designed by braindead morons.
