Someone asked me: where did the inspiration for this story come from?
Today I'd like to share where the story of the World Well began.
It's actually pretty simple — one day in 2022, I had a dream.
I dreamed of a girl carrying a broken robot through the desert, and inside the robot lived the soul of another girl.
They were heading to a distant place to do something that could change the world.
When I woke up, I decided to write it down and turn it into a visual novel.
I also sketched out the characters on the spot.

When the artist saw my sketches, they got a little excited: "Are you making Kino's Journey without the motorcycle?"
I don't know, I was thinking of Tifa when I drew it...
Now it feels like this Noma looks way too buff.
Anyway, since that dream felt a lot like a road movie, I watched The Motorcycle Diaries — the top-rated film in the genre — to study its narrative structure.
(It's a story about two young men traveling across South America on a motorcycle, and after witnessing suffering, deciding to do something for the world.)
Around that time, I was also watching 86 — Eighty-Six.
I was initially drawn in by the cover art and the romance, but after finishing it, I felt that the racial conflict setting — while rich with potential — hadn't been fully explored. There was still plenty of room to make it even more complete (and darker).
So I started thinking: what if I combined colonialism, racial issues, and caste systems into a more systematic, more extreme, and more contradictory framework — and placed it all in a fantasy world?
Brahmin + Lower Caste = Lower Caste / Untouchable
Vampire + Human = Caro
Hmm... that just might work.
And so the story found its foundation:
A protagonist stripped of every way out, who realizes after revenge that nothing has changed, and doesn't know how to keep living — until a girl falls from the sky and leads her into a new journey.
After traveling halfway across the world, she finally finds something worth fighting for.
Later versions changed a lot, but the shadow of that dream has always lingered...
Two girls, one journey, a reason to change the world, and a constantly shifting series of perceptions and conclusions that eventually converge into one truth — a future that has already been lost.
