It has been 48 hours since the launch of Evil School. As of now, we have learned that several streamers broadcasting our game have faced platform reviews or been reported by others due to the heavy subject matter of school bullying and the brutally realistic scenes depicted in the storyline. This has led to temporary or permanent account suspensions. We deeply sympathize with these streamers and extend our sincere condolences to them.
School bullying is a pervasive issue worldwide and a long-standing hidden wound in our society. For the victims, it leaves permanent, unhealable scars deep within their hearts. Unfortunately, the vast majority of bullies never face appropriate disciplinary action, and most victims never receive true justice or care. Instead, they are often met with victim-blaming reprimands such as, "It takes two to tango; you should look at your own faults," or "Why did they hit you and not someone else?" This is exactly why, even as romance-themed interactive movies dominate the market today, we still chose this subject and invested nearly 10 million RMB to produce Evil School.
To give everyone a more intuitive look at the cruelty of school bullying, we deliberately chose not to shy away from painful imagery during filming. We know full well that only through raw authenticity can we make people truly empathize with the victims' suffering. Consequently, the game inevitably contains visuals that may cause discomfort. We deeply apologize for the content-sensitivity issues this has caused for the streamers and content creators who are trying to help us spread the word, and we are immensely grateful to those who continue to speak up for us.
While the storyline in Evil School contains elements of artistic dramatization, art originates from life without being detached from it. Several members of our core team experienced severe bullying during their teenage years. For instance, the producer was bullied violently multiple times from elementary school through university simply for being small and frail. The bullies were from the same school, the same class, and even the same dormitory, while bystanders invariably chose to remain silent. One of our female leads also endured severe bullying during her school years; this is precisely why she gladly accepted the role after reading the script.
Merely exposing pain serves no purpose on its own. Through Evil School, a Full-Motion Video (FMV) game, we hope to lay bare the hidden societal wound of school bullying for all to see. We want to encourage more people to pay attention to this issue, stand behind the victims, speak up for them, and offer them support. At the same time, we hope bullies will face the punishment and education they deserve, so that the next time they raise a fist, they will choose to back down and repent under the righteous gaze of society, fearing the light of justice. (We must reiterate: the methods used to deal with bullying in the game are strictly for narrative purposes and are absolutely not recommended in real life. Fighting violence with violence will likely cause even greater harm. If you experience bullying, please bravely seek help from your parents, teachers, or the police immediately.)
To further encourage creators to speak up for justice, we have decided, after careful consideration, to permanently authorize anyone, to use all or part of the game's assets on any platform for livestreaming or creating long-form or short-form videos. For example, you are welcome to livestream the full game on platforms like Douyin, TikTok, Bilibili, YouTube, or X. You may also use our assets to create and upload videos (including full playthroughs) to any platform, even if your account has tipping or donation features enabled. (Please note: This authorization does not cover secondary distribution for the purpose of piracy, such as copying the game and reselling it as a game, TV series, or interactive video.)
