Hello, this is DopamineCrucian from the ON&OFF development team!
This update introduces the previously announced difficulty system, along with new events and quality-of-life features. We have also improved several inconvenient aspects of battles and the tutorial.
Important: Existing Run Save Compatibility Notice
This update changes the map generation system, so games in progress that were saved before the update cannot be continued.
Selecting “Continue” with existing save data will reset the current Run and start a new game.
Your game settings and Steam Achievements will not be affected.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding, as this change is necessary for a more stable gameplay experience.
Major Updates
German has been added as an officially supported language. We would like to thank 'Lee JiWon' for their help with the German translation.
A new three-tier difficulty system has been added: NORMAL, HARD, and HELL.
A description panel has been added to the difficulty selection screen so you can review each difficulty’s rules.
Numerous new events and event-exclusive choice effects have been added.
The battle UI has been improved to clearly indicate the required input while using Skills.
Map node placement and generation rules have been adjusted.
An Owl button has been added to let you review tutorial guidance.
A new Achievement for clearing HELL difficulty has been added.
Difficulty Rules
NORMAL
This is the standard difficulty.
Clearing an Act fully restores lost HP.
Higher-rarity cards are more likely to appear than on other difficulties.
HARD
Stronger enemies and bosses appear.
Gold gained is reduced to 90% of NORMAL.
Clearing an Act restores 50% of lost HP.
HELL
The highest difficulty, which even the developers can barely clear.
Even stronger enemies and bosses appear than in HARD.
Gold gained is reduced to 80% of NORMAL.
Lost HP is not restored upon clearing an Act.
Skill cooldowns increase by 1 turn.
Remaining Skill cooldowns carry over into the next battle.
Card rewards from normal battles are limited to 1 Arrow.
Clearing the game on HELL difficulty unlocks an exclusive Steam Achievement.
Balance Adjustments
The stats of normal enemies, Elites, and bosses have been broadly adjusted for each difficulty.
The damage of certain bosses has been adjusted.
The Phase 2 HP of certain bosses has been adjusted.
New Events
The following events have been added:
Artisan’s Anvil
Peddler’s Bundle

Gold in the Thornbush
Existing events have also been improved as follows:

The values actually applied as a result of a choice are now displayed.
Card transformation and Cost change results can now be reviewed through before-and-after cards and animations.
The placement of event result text and transition animations have been improved.
Save handling has been strengthened to prevent choice results from being applied more than once if the game is closed or restarted during an event.
Difficulty-based Gold gain modifiers now apply correctly to event rewards as well.
Fixed an issue where event music would not switch when events were selected rapidly in succession.
Starting Card Packs
Fireball and Magic Barrier have been removed from the possible cards in random Starting Card Packs.
One duplicate Multishot in the Casting Card Pack has been replaced with Devour.
The Casting Card Pack now consists of Devour, Multishot, and Meteor.

Improved the UI so that the hand is dimmed and moves downward while selecting a Skill target.
Fixed an issue where Skill button text sizes differed depending on the length of the Skill name.
Added light and zoom animations when revealing card rewards.
Improved the selection flow so that it continues smoothly when receiving multiple card rewards in succession.
Fixed an issue where some card Arrows were not displayed correctly on cards and the grid.
Fixed an issue where Mana-related effects could repeat indefinitely with certain combinations.
Fixed an issue where unnecessary additional Chain visuals could appear when a long Chain reached the maximum processing limit.
Fixed an issue where card draw order could differ with the same seed.
Map and Shop
Adjusted the length and width of maps for each stage.
Improved map generation rules to control the minimum and maximum number of Rest, Shop, Event, and Elite nodes.
Adjusted map branches and special node placement so that progression paths are generated more consistently.
The interaction for petting the existing Merchant has been changed from a simple click to click-and-drag.
Tutorial and UI
After major tutorial guidance has ended, you can now press the Owl button at the top of the screen to review the previous guidance.
The review button for previous guidance is automatically cleared when moving to the next battle phase.
Improved the placement of the tutorial guidance panel and the Owl.
Adjusted the Owl’s position so that it does not move off-screen or overlap the guidance panel.
Added an explanation of a card’s OFF state to the tutorial.
Adjusted the speed of the tutorial card placement sequence.
Improved difficulty entries so that their rules are displayed when hovering over them.
Added fonts and translated text required for multilingual display.
