Cleaning a haunted house with strangers is a lot easier when you can actually tell them where the ghost is.
V2.2.0 is our biggest quality-of-life pass yet: in-game text chat, player pings, full controller support, and a heavy round of work on connection stability. Plus a change to how ghosts detect you when you're crouching, and a long list of fixes.
💬 IN-GAME TEXT CHAT
You can now type to your crew mid-match. No mic, no problem, and no more frantically pointing at a wall hoping someone looks.
📍 PLAYER PINGS
Mark anything in the world for your team. Tasks, tools, doors, or the thing that just walked past the doorway behind you. Fast, silent, and a lot clearer than screaming.
🎮 FULL CONTROLLER SUPPORT
Ghost Janitors is now fully playable on a controller, start to finish. Every menu, every tool, every interaction.
🌐 CONNECTION IMPROVEMENTS
We fixed a large number of connection problems between players, and we've added tooltips that explain what went wrong when a connection fails, instead of leaving you staring at a dead screen.
🫣 SMARTER HIDING
Ghost detection against crouching players has been reworked. You can now hide behind objects much more effectively, so cover actually means something during a chase.
👻 GHOST BEHAVIOUR
Ghosts can no longer spawn directly on top of players. If they do spawn too close, they'll flicker for a few seconds while they move away from you
The fake Jester now has yellow eyes, while the real Jester has red eyes. Look closer before you run
🧹 GAMEPLAY CHANGES
Two players can no longer clean the same task at the same time, so no more wasted effort doubling up
If you've played on Nightmare, it now stays unlocked in the difficulty selection panel
Removed some of the books from Crimsonwood and Ravenwood
✨ VISUAL & QUALITY OF LIFE
The post-game screen has been redesigned
Added tooltips on interactable objects in the lobby
Added an info tip when you're holding an object in the lobby
⚡ PERFORMANCE
Fixed a memory leak caused by the VHS
🛠️ BUG FIXES
Fixed losing your Ghost Insurance if a ghost touched you while you were returning to the lobby
Fixed jumpscares getting stuck in the air after triggering
🌍 LOCALIZATION
Fixed several issues with the Japanese translation
Updated a number of translated strings across multiple languages
That's V2.2.0. This one was all about making the co-op part of co-op actually work, and a lot of it came straight from your reports and suggestions.
