NPC Update News
Read the original on Steam ↗Here's a short announcement to get you up to date in preparation for the NPC Update! :)
First, we want to let you know that we're aiming to release on the first week on August (not sure which day yet).
As you know, the update will be introducing complex human NPCs to Fantasy Forest.
Just so you know, in case it wasn't clear enough, we're taking more of a one-on-one relationship simulator approach rather than a group management simulation approach. So you won't be seeing an NPC town or anything like that, but rather a single NPC that is almost as complex as the player.
Someone that has their own likes and dislikes, that can feel grateful or resentful, infatuated, connected, trust you or mistrust you, etc...
This NPC can start the adventure with you if you choose the right perks, or be introduced through the trader otherwise. If an NPC dies, your character will suffer proportionally to how attached they were to them, but you can meet a new one through the trader too,
The update itself is going quite well.
NPCs have most of their systems working and are also already performing lots of duties through their contextual systems and are being quite helpful. Cleaning the house, gathering wood, keeping fires going, making cords and more.
The main things we're working on right now are:
A) Balancing:
Trying to get NPC relationship progression and survival to the best possible place for this update.
B) Character Creator:
Finishing the character creator and all its perks so that everyone can create their NPCs in whichever way they want.
C) Adding more duties and polishing the NPC experience.
That's all for now.
See you in a couple weeks for the NPC update! ;)
