First, a quick introduction for those who might be new here: we are Abylight Barcelona. You might know us from our recent strategy and city building games like One Military Camp or Citadelum, but our roots actually go back more than 20 years. We’ve been making games since the 8 bit microcomputer era, developing for almost every platform since!
Today, we are incredibly excited to announce our next big project: S.O.N.A.R. (Submarine Operators Not Actually Ready). We started working on this title last year, and honestly, it’s a massive leap for a small studio like ours because it means jumping into a completely new genre. The great news? We’ve taken to this new gameplay style like a fish to water, and we can't wait for you to see it.

Imagine trying to captain a high tech combat sub with up to three friends, where everything that can go wrong, will. That's S.O.N.A.R., an online first-person coop simulator. While some of you are trying to plot courses, steer, and fire torpedoes, others will be frantically scrambling to patch leaks, rewire electronics, and put out fires. With proximity voice chat, tons of customization options, and intense combat, rescue, and stealth missions, it’s the ultimate test of friendship.
It’s the kind of game you can play as a hardcore, super serious simulator if you and your crew are true "pros." Or, it can instantly turn into absolute, hilarious chaos if just one of your friends decides to ignore orders... but wait, who's actually in charge here anyway?
To give you a real taste of what we’ve been cooking up, you can sign up for our Playtest right now! This means you’ll soon be able to dive in and experience the madness for yourselves. Grab your friends, get them on board, and start planning the epic underwater operations that await you.
Oh, and to make sure life aboard our virtual sub feels as authentic as possible, we actually developed this game in collaboration with the Armada, the Spanish Navy. They kindly let us tour real combat submarines and provided us with official documentation to get the technical details just right.
