Greetings to all number-pilled peg snipers,
It's been a good couple months since I've made a Nubby News post and I think I've finally accumulated enough news to warrant a public appearance. I'll start with the BIG NEWS of Nubby News #15, then I'll give a rundown of some recent happenings for nubby on steam and nubby mobile. I'll finish by celebrating a big career milestone of the musician responsible for making NNF's soundtrack, Vinegart!
Thanks for reading, enjoy! THE BIG NEWS - Nubby Console Ports!?:
-----
Nubby's Number Factory is currently being ported to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch! Specifically, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch & (maybe) Nintendo Switch 2. I'll be working with the same professional game porter on this project that helped me bring nubby mobile into reality.
Right now we're expecting to release the console ports between Q4 2026 and Q4 2027. As for a specific release date, it's a bit too soon for that yet. Progress on this project has been going on for about 3 months now, and I think that we've finally come to a point in the porting process where I felt comfortable announcing this project to the community at large, which is why I'm here today!
The base price of the console ports will be the same as they've always been on pc and mobile - $4.99 USD.
My motivations for porting nubby to console platforms are similar to my motivations for porting nubby to ios/android. I'm primarily interested in putting nubby in front of new audiences who've never been exposed to the game before. If you already own nubby for pc or mobile and still want to pick up another copy of the game on console, I appreciate it! If you already own the game but don't feel like buying it twice, I appreciate it!
When I originally decided to start porting NNF to other platforms, I was only intending on doing mobile ports and then hanging up the towel and moving on. The idea of porting NNF to console platforms has been floating around my mind for several months, but I was kind of iffy about starting and finishing a whole new porting project. A couple months before nubby mobile released on ios and android in April 2026, I eventually came to the realization that NNF's console ports would have to happen soon or it wouldn't happen at all. If I wait a year from now to start it, I'll be busy working fulltime on my next title and I won't be able to give it the attention that I want to. I figured that I've had people asking me for console ports pretty regularly ever since NNF released on steam in March, 2025, so I ultimately decided to just give it a shot.
That's all I've gotta say about the console ports for now. It's been kind of fun to play nubby on a gamepad after playing it with a keyboard and mouse for so long. More news on this project will be arriving in the coming months leading up to release! Recent news for nubby (for pc and mobile):
-----
Over the past 8-9 months, I've been working with many outstanding members of the nubby community from all over the world to coordinate NNF localization efforts. As of patch v1.4.7.3 that released 4 days ago, there is now support for 13 alternative languages in NNF! Here's a list of every supported language on steam right now (besides English):
-Danish
-Norwegian (Bokmål)
-French
-Italian
-Polish
-Catalan
-Spanish (European)
-Spanish (Latin American)
-Portuguese
-Brazilian Portuguese
-Slovakian
-Russian
-Ukrainian
For those who play nubby mobile on ios/android, these localizations will be coming to nubby mobile soon. I apologize for the delay in porting the steam version localizations over to mobile, it's been taking a lot longer than I expected because there's a significant amount of text that is exclusive to the mobile port and thus has not been translated by any of the volunteers responsible for producing the languages above for nubby on steam. Fortunately, translation efforts for localizing the nubby mobile exclusive text are well underway and should be complete by the end of July. At the start of August, all localizations that have been updated to include mobile exclusive text will be ported to nubby mobile at some point in august, likely all being added in one patch.
There are still a few languages coming to the game that are currently in production. Though support for the following languages is expected to come at some point in the future, I cannot make any guarantees at the moment because localization work for nubby is volunteer-based and sometimes work/life gets in the way of these projects being completed. That being said, I have yet to receive word on the cancellation of the following languages, so hopefully we'll get to see them in the game one day:
-Finnish
-Toki Pona (conlang)
-German
-Icelandic
-Pirate (joke language)
