Battle Brothers News Recap
Update v1.5.2.2 is extremely exciting, adding more content to explore and master in Battle Brothers. The first change made is, of course, the addition of three new weapons, the pollaxe, executioner's sword, and estoc. Let's quickly go through how these new weapons function.
- The pollaxe (yes, that is the right spelling, check out the full update for that fun explanation) is a two-handed weapon that, due to its shorter haft, strikes at a range of one rather than two. It comes with three attacks, smite a heavy hit with the hammer side that can stagger enemies. Run through a quick hit with the axe side of the weapon that triggers a second free attack on staggered enemies and split shield.
- The executioner's sword is a very heavy, broad-bladed, two-handed sword, with a blunt tip, of course. It comes with three actions, overhead strike, the basic attack, split shield, and decapacitate, the signature attack of this weapon, which deals bonus damage based upon the target's missing HP.
- The estoc is a two-handed sword with a dull blade but a sharp point, designed as a heavy thrusting weapon to target and pierce gaps and joints in heavy armor, essentially a two-handed dagger. This is reflected in its stats with lower damage but a high ignore armor stat. This weapon comes with two actions: Perforate, a quick attack with two thrusts, best used on agile or less armored opponents. Skewer is its second attack; it is a powerful attack aimed at weak points in an enemy's armor.

New enemies were also added in this update. The brigand marauders are designed to make bandits not fall off so hard after the early game.

These enemies come equipped with better but worn-down armor, better stats and perks, and will start to appear as a sort of leader in brigand parties and eventually will roam the wilds in full groups. In addition to these new enemies, new units have been added to the northern noble house troops called Men at Arms, which should bring them more in line with their southern counterparts.

Thanks for reading and good luck on your next contract!
