The Sanitation Update

Stationeers · Community Announcements · July 02, 2026

This update focuses on Sanitation and QoL features that came about during our recent Vulcan playthrough. Stationeers now have a sanitation need to manage, some new medical injectors have been added, and there's new items to support both. Alongside that is another large performance pass, mostly aimed at atmospherics and large bases, a long list of multiplayer and dedicated server fixes, and a load of fixes and quality of life improvements for rockets.

If you are happy with our development, please consider supporting us by purchasing a DLC.

Sanitation

We've added a new sanitation need. Like food and water, it builds up slowly over time and has to be managed. Water now passes through a new internal organ system: liquid water is taken into the stomach and processed into polluted water over time, which is then expelled when you use the new Toilet. Some foods also contribute a small amount of water to this process.

If the need is left unmanaged it reaches 100%, at which point the character will evacuate it automatically, either into their suit or onto the ground. A soiled suit gives a critical notification and is cleared through the suit storage system, or with the flush command.

Waste Bags have also been added as disposable items that can be filled for temporary relief while a base is being established.

Sanitation is tied to difficulty and is disabled on Creative and Easy.

Water Packages

To cover the early game, Water Packages have been added as disposable items that replace most of the regular Water Bottles in starter kits.

New Combustor

The Combustor has been rebuilt with both a gas and a liquid input, so liquids such as alcohol can now be fed in and combusted. A control wheel sets the ratio between the two inputs, just like the Gas Mixer. The old Combustor is now deprecated.

Medical

The medical system has been reworked around a new Medical Effects system, which applies effects over a period of time rather than all at once. This makes effects like Stun meaningful.

Auto-Injectors have been added in Stim, Stun, and Health variants, and can be used through a spacesuit. The Heal Pill in the starter conditions has been replaced with a Heal Auto-Injector. Moodles for Stun, Stim, and Health show what is currently active and the time remaining, and a Healing moodle now appears whenever you are inside a device that is healing you, such as a cryotube.

The Cryotube now shows occupant and organ details across two status panels, and a Cryogenics tooltip on the player status icon lets you check your own health and organ state in singleplayer. Exhaled CO2 now comes out at body temperature rather than a fixed 20°C.

Survival Belt

The Survival Belt has the same total slot count as the Mk2 Toolbelt, but dedicates four of its slots to survival gear: a programmable IC chip slot, a battery slot to power it, and two Auto-Injector slots. The remaining slots are for tools, with two any-slots as on the other belts.

Like the Advanced Tablet, the belt can access its own internal slots, so you can Activate the injectors from IC code, which makes automated medical responses possible. Auto-Injector slots have also been added to the Marine Armor.

1x5 Solar Panels

New 1x5 solar panels have been added: single structures that have five panels but require just four kits to construct.

New Overalls

A new set of overalls has been added that can be colored with spray paint.

Landing Pad Arrow

A new Landing Pad Arrow cosmetic piece has been added for marking out your landing pads.

Cinematic Camera

A free-fly cinematic camera has been added. Toggle it with camera cinematic in the console, or press Esc to exit. It uses WASD, Q/E, Space and Ctrl to move, the mouse to look, Shift to move faster and Alt to move slower, and the scroll wheel to adjust speed. A settings panel allows live tuning of speed, smoothing, and FOV, and the screenshot key captures a 4K PNG. Keyframes and time-lapse are also supported. Run camera cinematic help for the full list of controls.

Unlimited Distance Rendering

Large structures are now drawn at any distance through a new proxy-mesh rendering system, so your base stays visible right across the map instead of vanishing out as you move away.

Rockets

Resource Transfer

A Transfer action has been added to the Rocket Action panel. It allows resources to be moved between two rockets at the same location. Each umbilical on the selected rocket generates a transfer widget; select the target umbilical on the other rocket to begin the transfer. Power, gas, and liquid are all supported. Gas is transferred using the same mix logic the umbilical uses when transferring to and from the tower.

Payload Bay

The Large Payload Bay and its Payload Delivery Container are now available. The Payload Bay is built into a rocket as an attachment point for a Delivery Container. Set a target with the PositionX and PositionZ logic variables, then use the deploy action on the rocket's location panel to drop the container's supplies to that point on the map from low orbit. A deployed container can be tracked with the tracker cartridge.

Type E Fuselage

A new Type E rocket fuselage has been added with a fully paintable surface, so you can color an entire rocket in your chosen color. It also includes a variant engine-plate with clipped-delta fins, which are visual only. The Type E fuselage kit is only available from the Cosmic Curiosities trader.

Logic Uplink (Compact)

A new, more compact variant of the Logic Uplink has been added.

Other Improvements

Atmospherics

A pass of atmospherics changes has gone in:

Logic

New IC10 Instructions

Four new instructions have been added. ROR and ROL perform a bitwise rotation of a value right or left by a given number of places, CLAMP constrains a value to an inclusive minimum and maximum, and SGN returns the sign of a value as -1, 0, or 1.

IC Debugging

IC chips now show errors in their inventory tooltip, both compile errors and execution errors, parented up to the device running them such as the Advanced Tablet, Survival Belt, or Hardsuit. This should make tracking down problems in item IC much easier.

New Device Logic Values

Community Fixes

Indirect register access (rr2, rrr5, and so on) and defined names now resolve correctly in L and S instructions, and cable networks now report StackSize. Thank you, AproposMath.

The Occupancy Sensor now correctly clears its internal stack. Thank you, Rambalac.

Performance

This update includes a large performance pass, with most of the work focused on atmospherics and large bases. We've parallelized the atmospherics network tick, consolidated the pressure-damage scan, and moved terrain collider baking onto worker threads so mining no longer causes other clients to hitch. Alongside this we've added a shadow-casting light budget for large bases with many lights, improved how multiplayer updates are sent, and made a broad pass to cut memory allocations and garbage collection across the cable, pipe, device and atmosphere systems. We noticed a modest boost to FPS and more importantly a much more stable frame rate on large bases and busy multiplayer servers. Saving has also been moved to a lower-priority background thread and streamlined to avoid temporary files and large-save garbage, so autosaves cause far less of a hitch.

Notable Fixes

Upcoming Changes

We've been building toward manned crew rockets with their own pressurized crew modules, along with a new orbital play space. This work is well underway but isn't ready yet, so it will come in the next update. While those features are still to come, building them has surfaced and fixed a number of impactful issues in the existing rocket systems, and those fixes are live in this update.

If you want to experience the new crewed rockets, they are available now on beta.

Localization

Thank you to our community translators. This update includes updated French, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese localization.

Metallic Paint Supporter DLC

Alongside this update we've released a new Support the Devs DLC. These are completely optional and exist purely as a way to support continued development of Stationeers, so a big thank you to everyone who picks one up.

This one adds four new Metallic Spray Paint colors (Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Obsidian), printable in the Tool Manufactory, for giving your builds a proper metallic finish.
