Greetings Wielders!

It’s that time of year again. The Lavapotion office is closing for the Swedish summer vacation, and all the nerds are heading off to enjoy nights where the sun never sets, along with some well-earned time with family and friends. But don’t worry, we’ll be back before you know it. Assuming, of course, that by “before you know it” you mean the beginning of August.

It’s been a hectic first half of 2026. We’ve released both Rise Eternal and Yulan on PC and consoles, worked on our upcoming game Wielders of the Essence, fixed bugs, made improvements, and dealt with everything else that comes with making games. [dynamiclink href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/3546610/Wielders_of_the_Essence/"]Want to check out another Lavapotion game with some familiar characters, well look no further than Wielders of the Essence! So what’s next for Lavapotion and Songs of Conquest?

There are exciting things happening behind the scenes, but they’re not quite ready to be shown yet. We’ve learned over the years that it’s usually better to show rather than tell, and some things still need to be finalized before we can talk about them properly.

I do have some news for those of you who enjoy our art, though.

Our Art Director is currently working on an updated version of the art book. Quite a lot has happened since we first released it, and there are now three additional factions worth including. [dynamiclink href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/2977420/Songs_of_Conquest__Digital_Artbook/"]

For those of you who already own it, this will simply be an update when we release it. You won’t have to buy it again. For everyone else, the expanded version will be available sometime after the summer. We’ll share a more precise date once we have one.

There is, of course, so much happening with Songs of Conquest that isn’t made by us. Our community continues to create amazing maps and campaigns that are uploaded to mod.io, and if you’ve already played through our campaigns and maps, I can highly recommend taking a look at what he has been building.

One creator I’d especially like to highlight is Doomich.

His work is genuinely impressive, and if you find yourself with some spare time this summer, I think you should give Secrets of the Ancients a try. You begin as the student Ardonna on her search for knowledge, but things escalate.

The campaign is packed with lore, unique new Wielders, and just so many beautiful and creative maps. There are far too many great screenshots from the campaign that I’d love to share. I don’t want to spoil too much, but it would probably be a crime not to show at least a few of them. A student who is increasingly taken by thoughts about life and death, at some point decides to leave the stuffy and conservative walls of the academy in search of a mentor.

In an effort to curb the transience of life, she decides to start by studying the power that brings the dead back to life here and there.

Will she be able to obtain the knowledge she craves, and with its help bring the blessing of eternal life to everyone? That right there is Doomich's description from the campaign description over at Mod.io. This turned into quite a long post, but I suppose it boils down to this:

We hope the weeks ahead are filled with games, good company, and perhaps even a little bit of rest. We’ll be back before you know it.

And thank you, as always, for helping make Songs of Conquest what it is today. We certainly couldn’t have done it without you.

That's just the Lavapotion devs from last weekend when we celebrated Midsummer /Anders and the rest of the Lavapotion team
