Hello humans!
This is Erik, the creative director of Doborog. I come bearing news!
Our next update comes out in the first half of July. Here’s what’s happening!
Clonebux → Supporter Packs!
With the next update to Danger Zone, we will be ending the sale of Clonebux, the in-game currency for purchasing premium skins and weapon models.
Instead, in-game cosmetics will be sold as Supporter Packs: simple DLC bundles listed in the store.
Why? Because you told us to! 🙂
After launching the update that introduced Clonebux, a lot of people came out strongly against these types of microtransactions in an otherwise premium game. After discussing your comments with the dev team, it quickly became clear to us there was no form or implementation of in-game currency that would not create a bad vibe for people exhausted by them in other games.
With Supporter Packs, we’re hoping to provide a simple, classy way for people to support our small indie studio, while unlocking awesome looking skins at a reasonable price.
What if you’ve already bought Clonebux? Good news! Any Clonebux you already bought will stay in your account, and you can use them to unlock any individual skins from current or future Supporter Packs we release. Since the price-per-skin with Supporter Packs will be cheaper than before, we’ll be giving anyone who purchased Clonebux a one time bonus amount to ensure the total purchasing power of the money you’ve spent stays the same!
The existing premium cosmetics will be put into two Supporter Packs. A third pack, introducing a shiny new set of robots and weapons, will debut in the coming update!
With this change, we’ll finally roll out our premium cosmetics to Xbox, Playstations, Switch and Epic!

Team Battles: Love and Achievements!
Last update, we introduced Team Battles. This update, we’re giving team battles some love.
Expect more levels, lots of bugs and exploits fixed, and new achievements to unlock free emotes and skins!

If you’ve ever wanted to look like your favorite robot commentator while bashing in a Sword Bot’s face, this update is for you!

The Future
So that’s what’s happening next update, but what about after that?
For Danger Zone, we’re coming up on the 10 year anniversary of the game being live. To celebrate, we are planning an Anniversary Update towards the end of the year. Expect a fun Challenge with fresh new content! 🥳🥳🥳
We’re also looking at improving our server infrastructure, expanding our options for how matchmaking works, and exploring connection issues to make sure multiplayer is as good as it can be.
In parallel to Danger Zone updates, we’re also working on two new projects:
Clone Drone on your Mobile Phone! Have you ever wanted to kill robots on a tiny screen in your bathroom??? This dream will finally become a reality. One of the main challenges with porting a game like Clone Drone in the Danger Zone to mobile has been figuring out how to make the control scheme not terrible. Over the years we’ve experimented with many versions, and I’m happy to announce that we’ve finally hit on something I think you’re going to enjoy. More info soon! 🙂
Project Orca! Work has started on what we’re hoping will be the Next Major Game from Doborog. We’re in pre-production, which means we’re still figuring out what the shape of the game is, but if you enjoy space combat, voxel destruction, and turn-based tactical experiences, you’re gonna love this one. Right now, our focus is on pushing our voxel engine even further, into a place where spaceships and aliens can blow up spectacularly with great performance. Expect to see more Twitch streams about this, and hopefully a launch into Early Access next year sometime!
What about Clone Drone in the Hyperdome? Unfortunately, we have to leave it un-updated for the immediate future. The VR market is grim, especially for premium games with no monkeys in them, so we can’t afford to give Hyperdome much time at the moment. It remains a game we are immensely proud of, and we do have fun ideas for updates to it we might circle back to. For now, we see Danger Zone and future projects as the best vehicles to deliver as much joy as we can to the largest number of players we can reach!
Sharing the last 10 years with you all has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. We’re still here, doing our best to make awesome games, and I hope we can continue to do so for a long time to come!
As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments. We enjoy reading them. 🙂
Cheers, Erik
