Full Patch Notes
If you're newer to Last Flag, here's a quick reference for the terms and shorthand used throughout these notes:
Quick Glossary
- Contestant: Any of the playable characters on the Last Flag roster.
- Q / E / C: The default hotkeys for a Contestant's three abilities. Q is the first ability, E is the second, and C is the Ultimate.
- Alt-Fire: A secondary action on a Contestant's primary weapon, mapped to right mouse button by default.
- Ultimate: A Contestant's most powerful ability (the C key). Charges up over the course of a match as the player deals damage and completes objectives.
- Charge: How full a Contestant's Ultimate ability is. Shown as a percentage on the ability icon until full.
- Down But Not Out (DBNO): The state a Contestant enters after losing all their health. While downed, an ally can revive you. If left alone, you bleed out and respawn.
- Finisher: A short animation that plays when you eliminate a downed Contestant.
- MVP: The Most Valuable Player from each match. The MVP gets a spotlight pose during the post-match screens.
- Cashbots: The robots that wander the map. Destroy them for in-match currency you can spend on ability upgrades.
- Green Room: Last Flag's waiting area, where players go before matches, upon respawn, and after being eliminated.
Update Highlights
- Introducing Graffiti: The newest Contestant skates onto the set, armed with twin paintball pistols, a devastating "Star Form" ultimate, and a knack for blending in.
- Welcome to Twin Temples: A brand-new map enters rotation: a stone arena split between sun-soaked bright side and shadow-cloaked dark side.
- Smarter Bots: Player Bots have received a major behavioral pass with improved pathing, ability use, and decision-making.
- Streamer Mode: A new privacy setting in Game Settings that hides sensitive info from your overlay.
- Audio Mixing Pass: A wide-ranging mixing pass to prioritize important gameplay sounds, plus brand-new hit and damage SFX.
- Hundreds of Fixes: Tuning, audio polish, art polish, localization, bug fixes, and stability improvements across the entire game.
Introducing: Graffiti
There's a new artist on the set of Last Flag, and she's painting the town red, blue, yellow, and every color in between. Graffiti glides into the arena on a pair of custom roller skates, twin paintball pistols at the ready, with a talent for blending in when she'd rather not be seen. Whether she's covering the competition with splashes of paint or vanishing into the scenery, expect a colorful debut that the audience won't soon forget.
Paintball Pistols (Main Weapon)
Dual-wielded paintball pistols that splash paint on impact, aim for the head to cover your target's view and disrupt them in the heat of the moment.
Combat & Gameplay Updates
- Sprint Cancellation: Sprint is no longer cancelled by Dash Stab or Dive Roll attacks that don't connect with a target.
- Sprint & Jump Pads: Sprint is no longer cancelled when using a jump pad. You'll keep your momentum when you land.
- Down But Not Dead: Fixed a bug where waiting in DBNO would lead to a longer respawn time. Now whether you wait until the end of DBNO, give up early or are killed your respawn time is the same (15 seconds).
- Hit Impact Visuals: Decreased the visual size of hit impact effects. The previous size was overwhelming and made it hard to see what was happening in fights.
- Flag Interactions: Fixed an issue where you could be automatically downed immediately after returning the flag.
- Flag Interactions: If a player disconnected mid-flag-interaction, the flag could become unusable for about a minute. The lockout window has been substantially shortened.
- Power-Up Stations: Projectiles and abilities (such as Tango's Proximity Mines) no longer pass through Power-Up stations.
- Cashbot Spawning: Fixed an infrequent issue where Cashbots would spawn too closely rather than distributed across the map.
- Smarter Player Bots: Bots now have significantly improved pathing, stuck movement recovery, and decision-making. They are also smarter about hunting for the flag, defending the pyramid, and choosing when to use their abilities.
Contestants
Bounty Hunter
Brass Belcher Minigun (C)
- Cancel Animation: The Minigun no longer visually distorts when cancelling the Ultimate.
Shotguns (Primary)
- Reload: Shotguns no longer occasionally fail to fully reload when triggered.
Knives
- Sprint: Sprint no longer breaks when jumping mid-fall.
Dash Stab (Q)
- Sound: Dash Stab sound now plays at the correct location.
- Interrupt Restored: Hits with Dash Stab once again interrupt the target.
Going Dark (E)
- Teleport Fix: Going Dark could fail to activate if Knives had just been teleported by Arsenal's Q.E.R. This has been resolved.
Lumberjack
- Melee Alignment: Lumberjack's melee attacks were drifting out of alignment with his swing animations. They now connect where you'd expect.
Skyfire
- Animation Hitches: Addressed jump hitches.
Stealth Interactions
- Visibility Fix: Skyfire's VFX particles no longer appear while he is in Stealth, which previously gave his position away to enemies.
Roadie
Shield (Alt-Fire)
- Stun on Break: When Roadie's Shield breaks, he is now stunned in place rather than knocked back. This comes with accompanying balance changes for Shield uptime.
- Open/Close Audio: The Shield open sound no longer persists after the Shield has closed.
- Server/Client Sync: Roadie's projectiles could explode on the server but appear to bounce off on the client. This desync has been fixed.
- Scout Ultimate: Roadie now correctly takes damage from Scout's Ultimate while his Shield is open. He was unintentionally invulnerable to it before.
Inspired Riff (E)
- Upgrade Radius: Fixed a bug where the Inspired Riff radius incorrectly grew when the radio was upgraded.
- Snowfield Rooftops: Inspired Riff can now be placed on the roof of certain Snowfield buildings, where it previously could not be placed.
Redeemer Joyride (C)
- Lean Animations: Lean animations correctly play again during Joyride.
Sound
Audio Mixing Pass
We performed a wide-ranging mixing pass to make sure important gameplay audio cues come through more clearly when there's a lot going on. Your ears will thank you.
- Performed an HDR mixing pass prioritizing feedback sounds during combat.
Hit & Damage SFX
- Hit Tick Volume: Hit ticks were too loud and dominating other audio cues. They have been brought down to a more reasonable level.
- Critical Hit SFX: Implemented a new distinct sound effect for critical hits, so you immediately know when you've landed a meaningful shot.
- Receiving Damage SFX: Designed and implemented a new version of the SFX that plays when you take damage so it's easier to quickly know the location of a firing enemy.
Contestant Audio
- Knives: Dash Stab sound now plays at the correct location. Previously it could play silently or at world origin (which sounded silent to most players).
Audio Polish
- Flag Capture Loop: Fixed an endless looping Last Flag sound effect that could persist when the capture ended.
UI
Minimap
- Black Icons Fix: Fixed an issue where player icons on the minimap could appear solid black.
- Green Room Visibility: Scout and Tango no longer incorrectly appear on the minimap while in the Green Room.
- Twin Temples Minimap: Added the dedicated background art for the Twin Temples minimap.
Assorted UI
- Bounty Hunter Ammo: Bounty Hunter's ammo count is no longer displayed as a progress bar; it shows numerically again.
- Tango Bolas UI: Tango's Bolas UI effect no longer displays while the player is downed.
- Reticle Visibility: Increased the opacity of reticle outlines so they're easier to see against busy backgrounds.
- Player Names: Player names in Team Selection are no longer force-uppercased.
- Leaderboard Nicknames: Nicknames now appear correctly on the in-game Leaderboard.
- Bug Report Button: The Bug Report button no longer flickers when hovering over its left edge.
Localization
- UI Overlap Fixes: Addressed multiple cases where UI buttons were overlapping or being overlapped by the chat box in Mexican Spanish, Italian, German, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Indonesian.
- Activity Feed: Fixed previously untranslated Activity Feed for Mexican Spanish.
Stability
- Friend Invite Crash: Fixed a crash that could occur after sending a friend invite.
- Achievement-Get Crash: Fixed a rare crash that could occur during engine shutdown after achievements had been awarded in a match.
- Friend-Result Crash: Fixed a rare crash related to receiving friend list updates.
Thanks for the support, feedback, ideas, and general good vibes. Happy flag hunting and see you on the set.
