The World Map Update is Almost Here!
After a lot of late nights and early mornings, the World Map update is nearing release, and it’s the biggest expansion to Outland Kingdoms yet. It fundamentally changes the scope of the game, evolving it from a single-colony sim into a true kingdom-spanning RPG-strategy game.
What’s coming in the World Map update:
Games now begin with your chosen dynasty and retainers landing on a coast. This first settlement becomes your capital - a living port city that grows with your kingdom.
Build a Coastal Capital. Construct docks, inns, taverns, and trading districts to attract visitors, settlers, and commerce from beyond your shores.
Expand Beyond a Single Settlement. As your capital gains prestige and population, citizens will propose new regions for expansion. Each new map comes with unique advantages and challenges, supplying your growing capital and kingdom with vital resources.
Travel & Rule in Person. You’ll explore and develop new regions directly using your Main Character. Bring a party with you, and while you’re away, other settlements continue to age, produce, and evolve off-screen, granting kingdom-level bonuses (though they may need the occasional visit to stay productive).
Altogether, this update opens up the world of Arkana in a huge way, officially graduating Outland Kingdoms into the kind of multi-settlement RPG kingdom builder I always wanted it to be. I’m aiming for a December release, with just a few core systems left to finalize (off-screen simulation and tile characteristics), followed by testing. Thanks for playing and supporting the game, and I can’t wait to get this into your hands!
